No, and do you know why?

    Let's review the situation here:

    The gangs allegedly involved:

    -Banditos
    -Cossacks
    -Scimitars
    -Leathernecks
    -Veterans

The Banditos is one of the largest and most violent biker gang in the world and it's believed that at least one gang in the list (the Cossacks) is allied with the Hells Angels. Loyalty runs deep in biker gangs so shooting one member means you have all members sighting you. Given that situation (evidence is pointing it was the Banditos vs the other gangs) all that did was bring more members from all the gangs involved into the area.

Now we come to the incident, it was not just gang members shooting each other, it was the police as well. Remember what I said about loyalty? All the gangs involved have openly declared the police officers targets.

Finally we come to the power gap. Not only are biker gangs looking at Waco as an access point for various contraband activity, so are the cartels. Eventually and I'd bet sooner rather than later, someone is looking to set up shop while the police are distracted by the possible biker gang violence.

So sure, you can be happy that a couple hundred biker gang members were "taken out" (though that number is really only a handful as the bulk of them will be back out on the streets if they're not already). I'll be trying to get out before the number of bikers and other gangbangers in the area triple, all looking for blood.

I never thought of it that way. Good point.

Forgive me for being blunt, but what outrage am I supposed to be feeling? I don't understand the specifics totally, but it seems like a bunch of gangs had a fight, it got broken up, and some people died.

It made the news in Oz, mostly because we have branches of a few of the gangs here and have had our own issues with them. (Kinda funny because it is on the nightly news for the 2nd night as I am typing this.)

I have no problem with them taking out each other because they knew what they were getting into.

I do feel really sorry for the staff and other witnesses at the place the blood bath happened. I also feel sorry for the police, ambos, etc that had to deal with the aftermath.

Melbourne had it's own gang wars between several extended families. Eventually they wiped each other out and the final few still living are serving long jail sentences. The biggest news coverage any of the 40 or 50 murders that happened was when one arsehole killed another arsehole while he was sitting in a van with 3 kids watching a junior sporting event. The backlash and anger from that meant the shooter was caught very quickly.

There is no reason to feel outrage.

The police knew the gangs were coming together, but couldn't do anything because no laws had actually been broken. They tried to get the manager of the restaurant to cancel the event, but the manager refused.

The police were outside the place in force because they knew what was coming. They responded as soon as the first shots were fired and arrested everyone involved.

There are no Constitutional issues here. No racial profiling. Just good public safety practices. I really don't see how the cops could have handled it differently.

So there is no reason for outrage. Unless of course, you mean outrage at the biker gangs who are basically modern day versions of warlords and raiding parties who think laws don't apply to them.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.
