The report button on message boards

If their is a report button and someone uses it. Then don't go after the one that reported it.

With that said, I reported something on a message board. I was offended by a post that was made. What happens, I get an infratching for it. WTF is that all about? The first time I saw that post, I was offended but because I was on break, I couldn't really post a reply or report it (I was at work and the break was over, forgot about the post until later on). But later on, I was offended. I guess that I cannot be offended about something.

I'm baffled as to why any moderator on any board would give an infraction to a member for reporting a post. Don't they want members letting them know when they're offended instead of getting into a fight in the thread???

Here and at CS, we spend so much of our time trying to convince members to use the report button in the first place.

So am I, the only thing that I can think of is if they are thinking that they are Gods of those forums. Or that they were bullied and just taking it out on others.

The above aspects are quite possible. What was the topic that offended you and what was the text of your report?
