There was a coworker who made it crystal clear that she didn't like that I was doing it, nor did she support me.

Which is fine. That's who she is and what she stands for. At least I knew how she felt.

It wasn't a grab me, goose me, honk me honky tonk free for all groping Playboy Mansion party bikini contest. Honestly.

But hey, at least she was honest.

I have friends who have interests that I don't care for. But if it's important to them, I wish them the best and if they were to ever compete in something, of course I'd have their back 100%.

And if you want to think I'm an easy peasy lemon squeeze-me ho-bag because I was in a bikini contest, well that's fine and your opinion. I was not naked and the only guy who got to touch me and kiss me and queeze me and go home with me was my boyfriend.

And you're damn right it takes guts to do it. Lots of guts and not giving two shits what anyone, especially judgemental people, think about you. And I do have those guts.

They don't want you as a friend, they want you as a "booze-buddy". Friends respect each others privacy and support each other in their decisions. People who want booze buddies just want you around to help them get drunk because "drinking alone means your an alcoholic, but drinking with friends means you are a party person". People like don't give a damn about their "friends", they just want you around to prove they're socially acceptable.

In fact, I'd say if you told them what I just said, they would, within a day, say you are no longer a friend of theirs.

I probably wouldn't acknowledge it either because I wouldn't have anything nice to say.
Hey, it's not my cup of tea, either. But if it is important to one of my friends, I'll support them 100%.

Now if someone I knew was getting up on a stripper pole and handing out lap dances, I might have to let them know that I don't approve of that sort of thing.

But a simple beauty contest? Meh. To each their own.

And you should see Blas' picture. Totally tasteful and pretty.

I think I understand why you dislike the concept, anriana- because I *think* we have some of the same ideals, just on a bit of a different level.

Speaking of which, this makes me want to start a new thread, so as not to hijack what this one is really about...

That's right. Tease the pervs in the audience.

I don't see why I should have problems being with friends that have a few wildly different opinions than I do.
I'm a born atheist but am best friends with a christian.
          I don't harp on how she's wrong.
But I also won't attend church with her.
          We accept eachother's differences.
