Guess what. IT WAS A DREAM. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. Oh, it felt real did it? WELL IT WASN'T.

Now, if it comes perfectly true later on in the day, then you can go around bragging about it. Until then....just keep it to yourself. No one else cares.

Okay. What is the context here?

It's hard to comment on something when we have no idea what you're talking about.

      Yeah, context needed here.

I don't mind hearing about someone elses' dreams, regardless of how true they may or may not have become, if they are interesting.

Okay, they aren't real. Neither are the majority of TV shows, books, and movies. But that doesn't stop them from making billions of dollars from our entertainment, does it?

For the most part, I get what he's saying and I pretty much agree.

There are some people in my family I will say are...well...gifted...for want of a better term. If they have a significant dream, I'm all ears. It might tell me something important.

But for the most part, I really don't care to hear about someone's "cool dream I had last night." For pretty much the same reason I don't care to hear about someone's D&D game last night. I'm sure it was interesting when you were experiencing it, but in both cases, you would kind of have to have been there.

I must be weird. I love hearing about people's dreams. I love how they are usually off the wall and unrealistic. Sometimes, my friends and I try to interpret them for fun. We come up with some weird interpretations.

This one time in a dream....
It is so hard not to talk about specific dreams with a thread like this one.

Whose dreams are so boring as to not tell something unintentionally intriguing about the teller?

Because ninety percent of the time, the teller goes on at great, excruciating detail for quite some time telling a disjointed, meandering story that has no real plot and is just a mishmash of unrelated crap. Like dreams are.

I have no problem with someone who says, "I had this weird dream last night, I dreamed I was (fill in the blank) and at Disneyworld." Then they give you time to ask questions about it and then the two of you discuss it. That is very different than launching into a long abstract non-narrative about surreal imagery.

A good story has a hook. Dreams do not have hooks. They are much like avant gard plays, another thing that me and my hummingbird attention span has no patience for.

                Depends on the play

Surrealism? BAH! There's a reason it's called "dream writing".

                Expressionism? Absurdism? NOW we're talking!
