"It felt right"

I loathe this term intensely. I mostly see it in magazine articles depicting someone's true life story, where they tell the magazine about how they met a Turkish toyboy while on holiday and straight away agreed to marry them cuz "it felt right". -.-

Of course, later on in the story they're then bemoaning the fact that they gave all their savings to said toyboy who then ditched them. I also see this phrase when people talk about having affairs, or moving in with someone they've just met. It drives me up the wall cuz common sense doesn't seem to come into it at all.

It may comfort you to know that it's just an excuse and something that helps people sleep at night and feel better about themselves for making stupid decisions.

If "it felt right" at the time, but turned out horribly wrong later, I'd say your sense of self preservation is horribly out of tune.

Those types of people might want to re-evaluate the decisions their gut is telling them to make.

"It felt right" = "It felt good".

Hormones will do that. It doesn't really say much about the future of a relationship either way.

However, I've also heard long-time couples say "It still feels right." And that's a pretty sweet thing to say, in that context.

Seems like it's a corollary to the guys' "It seemed like a good idea at the time."

It's the standard response for when you didn't think it through, but did it, but you don't wanna admit it was a spur-of-the-moment thing. Of course, that's actually the only motivation guys ever have. And if any man says different, he's lying
