  • Mark Sanford

And I've always hated this patronizing, pandering douche.

Wanna know what the difference between smart people and stupid people is? Stupid people never stop to think, "Hey, maybe I'm not as smart as I think I am." And that, in a nutshell, is why I hate Mark Sanford, the governor of our fair state.

I am convinced he didn't win the vote that made him governer because anyone liked him. No, he won because we hated that fucker Hodges even more than we hated him. So it was more like a "grudge vote" sort of situation.

The guy blows town for a week and tells no one, and I do mean NO ONE where he was. Well, turns out, he was in Argentina banging some broad. I mean, really, that he was banging some broad other than his wife should come as no great shock to anyone, I mean, he IS a politician. But seriously? He's the governer of the state, he couldn't at least cover his ass and at least tell someone where he was going in case of an emergency in his absence?

Dicksmack. I've always hated that guy.

    Here's a rather snide article: http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/thega...argentina.aspx

I like how he says "he wanted to do something exotic." I guess he got his wish, eh?

Any comment I make should not be taken as an absolute, unless I say it should be. Even this one.

The joys of being a Republican. You can be a whoremongering adulterer while you espouse family values.

This is actually kind of strange, seeing as how they are all so hard on Bill Clinton for doing what he did with Monica Lewinskky. There are quite a few Republicans who have done things that either match or beat what Clinton did. For one thing, there is Sanford (matches what Clinton did). And then there's Mark Foley, who got sexually involved teenaged pages (this probably beats Clinton). But, as I've said before, it's always different when a member of YOUR party does it.

Not sure how you can say nobody cares what Sanford did, although I will say that it's not banging some strange that anyone cares about. What the big outrage here is that the idiot disappeared without a trace for a week without a word.

I mean, if he was an assistant manager at say, a Kinko's (it happened) it wouldn't be that big a deal, but he is the freaking governer. It never occured to him to say something to someone in case there was an emergency? He went missing! I can't imagine what his kids were thinking, or his wife. Everyone was kind of in a panicked holding pattern.

I'd say that's a far bigger crime than screwing some chick, although I'm confused about how come he couldn't find any local whores. I mean, we have them here.

As for Clinton, again, nobody really cared he was banging the help. What the problem was with him was he illegally used his position to grant innappropriate favors and then committed perjury lying about it. If he were the manager of, say, a Kinko's (it DIDN'T happen) he would have been fired for that. And if said manager of Kinko's then went on to commit perjury in a federal court, he would go to jail. A politician should be no different. In fact, if that politician is the president, it's even more outrageous because he should be held to a highter standard, not a lower one.

It's not about party lines, here. And if you think we're all okay down here about Sanford's walking off his job for a week, think again. He should lose his job. After all, anyone here would be fired if they pulled a stunt like that.

John Edwards had an affair and he totally lost any chance he ever had at becoming President in '08.

All I can say is I am frankly overjoyed that the sumbitch did this, if it means he now has 0 chance of furthering his career.

I developed my intense hatred of him when I was working ETV (public television) and he was trying to get elected. He was in the studio doing one show after the other, and I got to the point where I was about ready to go postal if he uttered the phrase "My (x number I can't remember) little boys and I" Yes, asshole, we know you have sons. Shut the farg up about it for five seconds. Patronizing fuck. So brazenly manipulative. And so bad at it.

And at the same time, I was developing an even more intense hatred of Hodges, the other candidate. That guy was so bad, even his WIFE was wincing when he opened his pie hole.

I personally don't care who Gov. Sanford was banging on the side. What pisses me off is that he left the state of South Carolina without a Chief Executive - if there had been an emergency situation, what would've happened?

Why do so many threads on politicians' screw ups have to include a president from around a decade ago?
Cheese and crackers people get over it. He weaseled his way out of perjury by defining "is" as a present tense verb. Honestly anyone that couldn't understand what he was trying to do should get their heads out of thier butts.

I think this helps to prove what the republicans have already figured out. Bold faced lying again and again despite the evidence will always be better career wise than telling the technical truth.

See, guys, here's where you lose me. I"m commenting on a guy's irresponsibility to his job we're paying him to do. That's all. I'm not a democrat, nor am I a republican. I'm a taxpayer that expects people to do a job I'm paying them to do.

Who they fuck while they're doing it, I could care less. They could be fucking the corpse of Jimmy Hoffa while they blow a laborador retriever. Long as the job gets done and laws don't get broken, I"m good.

As for the whole "republicans are evil" and "democrats are evil" whatnot, my dad does that. He's fanatical and close minded. All the members of his party are clean as the driven snow in the Garden of Eden. The other party are all baby eating Nazis. No exceptions. I can't even talk to him, and I have to actually walk on eggs around him because anything I say can and will be turned into a political discussion....no, make that a political rant.

I mean, last week, I commented on frigging Sesame Street and within two sentences, it was "xxx political party is trying to brainwash us all!" I mean, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. I just walked away. It borders on mental illness. And I"m really sick of it.

                    I'm just saying.

What? Bold faced lying does work and the republican party is better at maintaining that type of working platform.
I never said that democrats don't lie. They just aren't very good at cohesive plans.

Not 100% sure, but I think necrophilia is illegal, desecration of human remains. And I know bestiality is, as that's classified as animal abuse. But I get your point that it's the dereliction of duty that is your issue, hence the placement in "Things I hate," not "Politics." To you, it doesn't matter if it was to go boink 50 Thai ladyboys, or to go skiing in Jasper, he just up and disappeared, when his job requires him to be contactable. And I agree, if you're doing something that requires you to be not-findable, maybe a public job wasn't the best choice of career.

There was a time over here in politics - probably during the Major years - when the PM had to ask someone to step down for the horizontal hula with someone who wasn't his wife.

The president of France was quoted at the time as saying that if had to do that then he'd have no government left.

I guess the old saying "practice what you preach" is non applicable to him and all the other ass hat politicians that spout on over family values and go on and bang their mistresses. At least when Clinton was diddling Monica Lewinsky and all the others he didn't pull the hypocrisy card. Hypocrisy is something that really grinds my gears, but for the most part, I don't give a rats ass if they cheat on their spouses or not since it's their personal business, so long as they are doing their job in whatever branch of the government they are in.

I agree with RK. What's so repulsive here is that this irresponsible asshole took off for a week, left no one else in charge, and told no one where he was. Anyone who thinks this is acceptable should never be put in charge of anything, let alone the defense and protection of an entire state.

Cheating on his wife is a minor issue in comparison.
