I understand, Flyn. I was just trying to pick an example without using the word "Retard".....it riles some people up, ya know.

I've posted about the nutjobs that live next door to my parents on CS. These idiots are legendary in my borough. Not just the borough either, but also the police department

        1. They're a bit attached to their lawn. They've spent more on that stupid yard than the *house* is worth. Seriously, I'm not making this up--their yard was actually featured in the newspaper one year. Because they're paranoid about people walking on the grass...they've actually surrounded their yard with various types of fencing, hedges, and walls.

        2. They would harass various neighborhood kids, usually for things like walking the dog in front of the house, parking in front of their place, etc. Kids would then retaliate by egging or TP'ing (sometimes both!) the house, vandalizing their cars, etc., which then caused the security cameras, spotlights and motion detectors to go up...because we're in a "high crime area." Funny, how it's only *their* house that gets messed with.

        3. These fools get upset if you park in front of their house. I could understand if the car was on the grass, or blocking the driveway. However, in my borough, you DO NOT own the street. How do I know this? Well, my mother was going to the store one night, and wanted to take the van. Problem was, my car was in the driveway. Couldn't park in front of the house...since our other neighbor was having a party. Mom dropped the car in front of the goofballs house, and took the van to the store. When she returned, there was a nasty note on the windshield bitching about how we parked their (instead of our "empty driveway") and that we owed them $2 for parking

        4. Thought I should mention the "Dahlia Squad" story. One weekend years ago, a police car appeared in the driveway, and an officer (who we knew) was pounding on our door. Seems they'd called the police over...a broken flower! I shit you not, folks. Somehow, one of their "prized" flowers got broken, and somehow, we'd done it. Never mind that we weren't even home when it supposedly happened

But, the best had to be her claim that it was us. Seems she had a picture of my brother. In fact, it was a picture of him sitting on the couch...in our family room! Not making this up, folks--she'd actually aimed her camera *into* our house!

Once the potential "invasion of privacy" thing was revealed, they quickly changed their tune...

        5. They take photos of everyone on the block. Again, not kidding. I've been outside more than once, working on the car, relaxing on the patio, etc. and "click!" goes the camera. I'm sure there's at least one of me giving them the "Pittsburgh Salute"

What I'm trying to say is, it just pisses me off when people try to use the "mental illness" card. I mean, I've had to deal with depression most of my life. Contrary to the commercials, it does *not* go away, and there's no cure for it. Sure, you can *control* it, but it never totally disappears. I have to deal with that shit every day. Do I expect a free pass because of it? Of course not. I'm no different than anyone else. In fact, I think that dealing with it has actually made me stronger. Even though people are more understanding now, it's still taboo to some people.

Still, there are some people who try to play that card...simply because it will either give them an excuse to be an asshole (like my parents' neighbors), or to gain sympathy. Both types piss me off, yet they get away with it, because society is too chickenshit to say "Grow up, and quit being an asshole!"

Do I have to like everyone. Hell no. Just because someone is handicapped or mentally disturbed, does not mean that I am required to like them. I will however like them if they are nice. If they are assholes, then they can fuck themselves with the other assholes.

I love how that expression is actually over a hundred year old, back when percussion caps were required to fire guns.
Just like how saying axe instead of ask was the original way that word was pronounced. It isn't ebonics; it's just middle english.

I know, but the people who use it nowadays I wouldn't credit with the learning or knowledge to know the origins.

ZOE: Preacher, don't the Bible got some pretty specific things to say about killing?

SHEPHERD BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, Somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.
