  • Justice System Proves to Be Even Dumber

    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=4300383

    This isn't a rape issue.

    This isn't a race issue.

    This is a legal issue.

Short version of very long article: soccer star hangs out with some random chick at a party and hangs out with her most of the night. She tries to make out with him but he denies her. She then reaches down his pants and grabs his dick, but he denies her. He then ditches her. The next day the police arrest him for rape. The girl went to the hospital and reported being raped. They found semen on her clothes and inside her vagina. There was also toothmarks on the girl. DNA test is run and it's NOT the soccer star's, it's her crazy ex-boyfriend's. A forensic dentist testified and said the teeth markings were not the soccer star's, but it could be the ex-boyfriend's. Just makes the statement, "I've not seen a rape case with so much incriminating, credible and powerful evidence". Soccer star is found guilty (this is in the Superior Court, so it's not a rookie judge) and is sent to jail for six years.

How the HELL does he get found guilty when there is NO non-circumstantial evidence to prove him guilty? NOTHING. They didn't even investigate the ex-boyfriend. Rape testimony is some of the most unreliable testimony out there too. The judge should know this. Now, I'm not saying he was found guilty because he is black and the town they are from is 98% white and the jury was all white. But since he obviously couldn't be found guilty due to evidence since there was none, why did he get found guilty?

The evidence clearly shows that there's NO WAY this young man could have been involved in this incident. What the holy fucking hell is wrong with people?

That is complete crap indeed. Here's to hoping that with pressure due to media exposure thanks to ESPN, this case will get hustled through for appeal and will result in some officials getting in some deep shit.

This is really horrible. The evidence proves it wasn't him but the State didn't care. This is very similar to the lacrosse players that were accused of raping the stripper. I hate to say it but it rings of racism too.

Haven't the prosecutors and judges gotten tired of being wrong yet?

They need a new law where if you are found not guilty, or if you win by appeal, the state that prosecuted you has to either cover your legal costs, or pay you 1 million dollars. Whichever is more. That would get them to think twice about doing this crap!

Prosecutors job isn't to determine right or wrong, their job is to win. I place no blame on them, they are just doing their job. The judge on the other hand is a complete dumbass and should be removed immediately.

Covering legal costs, eh, I could understand that. Giving out a million dollars, no. My taxes are high enough as it is to consider raising them to pay off innocent people.

Most prosecutors ARE supposed to determine, at the very least, whether or not the case is worth persuing, by looking at all the evidence and making a judgment call on whether or not they think there's enough preponderance of evidence to show guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. So...someone didn't do their job here.

And this is just my little random pissivity, if you're going to call someone out on rape, have the nuts to do it under your real name. I understand in a real rape case being scared and everything, but IMHO it just makes you seem a little less credible to me if you're not willing to stand up on your own power over it. You're strong enough to nail the bastard, it's not that much harder to look him in the eyes and say "This is who's bringing you down, Jerky." I know about the risk of repercussion and all that but it's not like they can't still find you without your name, you know? By the time you're testifying, you're toast anyway. That's probably (I'd guess almost definitely) just my irritation though, so yeah.

Actually, they're pretty much boned in the part of a rape case. If they don't go in to it, they're accused of being misogynists, and setting back the ability of women to come forward when they're raped. They were probably counting on either the Grand Jury, the judge, or the jury to take a look and go "There's not enough evidence here to give a mouse indigestion.

Plus, a lot of the time, prosecutors don't get to pick and choose their cases. They are told which cases they will do no ifs, ands, or buts.

I don't blame the prosecuters either. But those officers, that jury and that judge should all be ashamed of themselves.

I won't even pick on the victim (too much) because as drunk as she was, it is possible that she thought he did it, or she is afraid of the guy that really DID do it.

Although, if she isn't sure, she should be ashamed of herself for not being honest. "Rape" is not an accusation you toss about casually. I would hope that, as a victim coming forward, your goal would be to prevent the asshole from doing it to anyone else, not just get a judgement to make yourself feel better..or whatever.

I can understand not giving her name, though. Right, wrong or indifferent, there is a big stigma attached to having been raped. Some women may be strong enough to handle everyone in the nation knowing about it. Others may want to see their attacker behind bars and put it behind them. So, I can respect that.

So basically, some tramp regrets being a tramp with an ex-boyfriend and an innocent person's life is ruined for it? Yup, the title of this post suits this news story.

The lying slut should be the one shoved in jail.

Eyewitness evidence is both the least accurate and most believed of all forms.
But for something this blatant, I really wish false accusations would lead to jail time for such evil women.

I couldn't agree more, not only do these women hurt the lives of the innocent they are accusing; but, they also hurt women who are real victims and are afraid of coming forward and not being believed.
