Don't ya just hate it when someone wants to go all out and make a scene out of something (or even a small thing), but when they get proven/shown to be wrong, they then have to 'justify' it, and make all sorts of excuses??? They can't just up and admit they got it wrong? No, they have to try and bring you down, and make you wrong for proving them wrong... gah! Sort of like the 'definitions' bit on another thread... someone argues black and blue... and then gets shown that black and blue aren't even what they thought they were... but does that make a difference?? Nope!

I'm currently having an online discussion on traffic and parking rules.
Here's a hint.
I enforce them.
Someone is telling me I'm wrong, and the strength of their argument is "Because I told you so", that really bugs me! They're offering no proof, no external source, nothing of any substance at all, they're just saying "You're completely wrong".
I think I'm spoiled from visiting here! The test of police efficiency is the absence of crime and disorder, not the visible evidence of police action in dealing with it. Robert Peel

Actually, one thing I like from Carl Sagan:
In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion. [Carl Sagan, 1987 CSICOP keynote address]ZOE: Preacher, don't the Bible got some pretty specific things to say about killing?
SHEPHERD BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, Somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

You know why people never change on political or religious points? Because they're invested in those. They've actually voted based on those, argued based on those, been persecuted, done the persecuting, and formed beliefs that they think their morality and personality are based on. To them, changing their mind is tantamount to giving up a piece of their soul. Whereas a scientific point literally only has power so long as it's correct. That's why you only get "young earth" proponents who are also religious. They've turned a scientific fact in to a religious one.Any comment I make should not be taken as an absolute, unless I say it should be. Even this one.
