I've had this problem with online job hunting, too. I'll specify the state in the drop box, and I'll get matches from clear across the country. I guess their systems are in need of a little tweaking.

I've found it's not so much that, but that people who advertise the job put in all the states in the submission area, hell I'll look for jobs in Adelaide and I'll get results for the US, Canada and Finland.

I hate that. Especially when it looks like a great oppourtunity. It happens all the time to me, I hate it when they are listed in your area, but when you actually click on the ad they're in a completely different area.

That happens to me all the time. I find a great job. Click on the link and it is in a different area.

I hate job hunting, even online. Even posted a rant about it on my LiveJournal page (see sig for link).

The worst ones are the ones that look like legitimate jobs, but in reality are just trolling for e-mail addresses so they can innundate your inbox with spam, or try to get your personal information. I got snared on a craigslist listing that way*. People who do that need to DIAF.

*They sent me a questionnaire to "get to know you". The company name was on the e-mail. I looked it up online and found hundreds of complaints about the company, claiming they were bogus and just out to spam you. I also got tons of spam from them under several different gmail.com addresses and ended up having to block that domain from my inbox.
