  • A few random hates

    1) Being depressed. it's been more than a year now since those two bastards abused me and yet, every time I fail something, my mind keeps straying back to them. I'm scared to go back on the medication as I didn't get the chance to enjoy a drink with friends on my 18th. It was one drink for the night. No chance for me to get drunk. (drinking age in Australia is 18 by the way) I was on the medication a bit before my 18th birthday. I see people out there who choose not to drink, but that's a choice. I don't want to be forced into not being able to drink anymore.

    2) People who are quick to bash teachers every time an article about education in the state gets brought up in the paper. (and it's the same tired arguments) yes, in any job there are always going to be bad people. It's called life people!

    3) Being labelled naive. Now this is what really bugs me. People are quick to say that I'm naive or that I've made a naive statement, but when I try to not be as naive as I used to be, then I just wind up in a similar situation to 1 above.

    4) Somehow I attract bullies. And that's what I hate the most. I don't do or say anything that could possibly provoke them, but when I'm confronted with one, I get close to snapping.

    1. That's pretty normal, when you're depressed your mind tends to link every bad thing that happens back to the root of your depression, the brain also has this annoying habit of running the shitiest and worst things in your life over and over, I know mine does.

    2. But remember teachers aren't human so it's ok to bash them, plus people always look for someone to blame and when it's to do with education teachers are the most visible part of it.

    3. The younger you are the more people think you're naive, it happens, just remember though, people are dumb.

    4. Snapping might actually be a good thing.

What? I mean, yeah I had a really shitty teacher in Special Ed, who told me I wasn't wanting to do my work, when I needed help with math because I have a handwriting disability. Of course, she did have to deal with Special Ed becoming part rehab, and part Ellis Island which is stupid, to take away resources from people who are disabled.

Still, suggesting teachers aren't human? Sounds like something a school shooter would say.

I see my implied facetiousness and sarcasm was missed.

It can be misconstrued in text. Icons like this usually help show that it is sarcasm.

Attracting bullies and other abusers may not be something that can be changed. My love muffin has some kind of visible only to jerks V on her head. Even institutions zero in on it to abuser just her.

The only thing you can affect is your own behavior. Nip it in the bud the moment anyone starts to act like a bully in your presences. Everyone has to deal with wastes of space at times.

I got it too. I felt it was fairly clear. A "rolleyes" would have ruined the effect.
Any comment I make should not be taken as an absolute, unless I say it should be. Even this one.

It comes in handy when making making light of inappropriate things, too. As I found out in another thread.

Actually, doesn't it kinda look like it's smiling or smirking more than eye-rolling?

It's hard to understand the tone someone is saying something with on the internet, because your reading words not speaking them.

Next time you mean to use sarcasm, follow what you're saying with something *sarcasm*, or one of these.

I figured that given my support of teachers in other threads it would have been obvious I wasn't serious.

A new random hate from today:

-People who think that depression is not an illness.
There's a plan to look at early intervention for kids who might be suffering from depression. First reaction? "Harden the f*** up" "kids are too soft these days" etc. etc.
I'd love to see any one of them suffer from it.

I usually say "Kids are too soft these days" and "harden the fuck up" usually to those kids, but there's a difference between being soft and depression.

What is that difference, and how do the rest of us tell?

I hate that shit! Where I live there's a really strong "Get over it" attitude. So now not only do you still have a problem but no one around you gives a shit. People just don't get it. If another part of my body wasn't working right, such as my legs, people would be all over it. "Awww you poor baby!" No one would say "Oh just get over it, you can walk!" And it's the same with depression. My brain, and the brain of many like me, isn't working properly. It's over or under producing particular chemicals that stabilize moods. You can't just "Get over it". If you can, you don't really have depression issues.
