  • The Wildcat

It's a college formation, keep it in college. That was one of the least legit wins I ever seen. Damn Dolphins.

A little exposition for the non-sports-inclined here?

In football, the offense has various formations. One such formation is The Wildcat. It is used a lot in high school and college football because it relies on speed which is easy to do in college. In the NFL where competition is much better, it's not so great. It's basically a trick play every time you run this formation. The Miami Dolphins, having sucked for a few years now, decided to build a team around this formation and it's working somewhat. It worked enough that it won the game for them. God save us if this becomes the norm for the NFL. I'll stop watching football if it does.

Why? The other team couldn't counter it, so they lost. If it works and is legal, do it. If the team fell for a ruse, then too bad for them. Get over it, stop bitching and learn to counter it.

I don't watch a lot of sports, mostly soccer and hockey, but most of these "oh, that's cheating!" things come from losing teams who get screwed by the other teams' use of a creative play.

Eh, football is just chess on steroids with tights. Boring anyway.

I'd be excited for basketball season if it didn't mean losing all campus parking whenever there's a home game.

Football is a bunch of guys grunting and moaning and grabbing each other's butts, fighting over a fucking ball.

And yet it's more of a religion around Wisconsin than Christianity.....

I take it I'm the only one who played and loves football here.

Sorry, hockey and soccer fan myself. :P I'm a fan of creative plays and sneaky tactics.

Sorry, but if a team can't deal with a college formation, maybe they shouldn't be a pro team. Not to mention that at least 2 other teams have adopted the Wildcat, too.

Half the teams in the NFL have tried it at least once. Even my team did. But having it be the majority of your offense? Drafting around that formation? Whatevs.

You know, they've said the same thing about other formations in the past, that are now perfectly well accepted.

Didn't play it (hee), but I love pro-football and NHL hockey. I've been a fan of the Red Wings since the dark days of the late '80s.

I don't know how you can justify calling it football when you hardly ever touch the ball with your feet.

Well, in Europe, football is like soccer.
