  • Irritating habits of others...with a twist!

What habits in others tend to annoy you?

    The twist?

You find yourself doing the same thing! This is very random. It can be anything from punctuation and grammar to being a loud talker.

I figure this could be fun!

    I'll start:

    1. People who use ..... in excess.

    2. People who use quotation marks excessively. Specifically in a forum when starting a post and using a false name for someone they're referring to. For example - I understand that your co-worker isn't really named "John". Therefore, there's no reason to keep saying "John" throughout the entire post, over and over. Once is enough.

    3. People who repeat themselves several times during a conversation.

    4. Whistling. I hate whistlers and I always wanna smack myself when I find myself doing it.

That's just a few to start. With the exception of number two, I find myself doing all of these things. I just don't use " " excessively. I do find myself using them unnecessarily though.

I agree with the whistling! You'll never catch me doing it because I can't, but I work with a lot of people (past and present) who whistle constantly and I've always had to resist the urge to just punch them. I'm not a violent person but my god that gets SO annoying after so long.

People who chew with their mouths open or breathe really loud while eating or people who inhale and exhale deeply when they are smoking.

      Inappropriately using the word, "like".

My love muffin works with 20 somethings and teens that use the worst grammar imaginable. It seeps into her language, and then into mine.
      I hate that.

I hate procrastinators...yet I do it all the time.

I hate "me too" type of people, yet I'm always doing it myself. (You know when you're telling a story, and no matter what the story, that person has a story to either equal or top yours. *OK...I'm not that bad, but I do find myself doing the "me too" thing a lot.)
        Point to Ponder:

Is it considered irony when someone on an internet forum makes a post that can be considered to look like it was written by a 3rd grade dropout, and they are poking fun of the fact that another person couldn't spell?

Looks like if we met ourselves, we'd hate ourselves.

          I don't like people who:
          - don't finish their sentences
          - don't think the rules should apply to them
          - are too cautious when making left-hand turns
          - interrupt people when they're talking
          - are know-it-alls

            I'm with Ree.

I have the best intentions of trying to not steer away the conversation (or the thread, if we're talking about here or CS) but I catch myself doing it constantly.
