My Dorm's Internet Firewalls

Bah. Every time I turn on limewire, because of my school's firewalls, it take forever to get a connection. By the time I actually get a connection, I either don't care at that point or have forgotten the name of the song I want.

Also, I can't join any chatrooms with Java or IRC. It's total crap. How am I supposed to instantaneously converse with other CS members if I can't get into chat through either of those?

Yeah, it sucks, but I can see why they do it as well. I believe a lot of filesharing sites have been set up on campuses all over. They need to protect their network just as a business would. After all, who wants a Ferris Bueller hacking into the network to change their own grades.
