  • Oh well then that's okay....

Imagine if you will a mother walking up to the counter of a movie store with her 15 year old son in tow. Woman is holding a copy of Deathkiller Clown Zombies #15.

Mother asks politely, "Is there any nudity in this I really don't want my son watching any porn" The clerk assures her there is not and the Mother breathing a huge sigh of relief, "Well good I want to rent this then." She then proceeds to give a diatribe about how there is too much sex in TV and movies these days.

I have seen this conversation repeated in various ways over the last 10 years and all I have to say is W............T..............F!!!!!

Here is what I hear when you say that, "I don't want my son watching things that make him think of having sex with his girlfriend but I have no problem with him watching things that make him want to kill his girlfriend."

Setting aside for the moment the fact I don't believe people are controlled by media seriously can we get a reality check on aisle three?

America really is backwards as far as this goes. Mass murdering and tons of violence is perfectly acceptable, but God forbid a teenager sees a nipple or something!
Violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. The contrary opinion that violence doesn't solve anything is merely wishful thinking at its worst. - Starship Troopers

I remember when I saw my first nipple. The 10 day shooting spree that followed was quite fun.

Either ban all of it, or ban none of it. That half-ass protective crap is, I'm convinced, far more damaging than the actual movies themselves.

You are right Fryk because all this serves to do is really confuse kids when growing up.

Actually I got to admit this is rather confusing to me?

I mean, you see boobs, and other bit's of men/woman covered up with either black strips or fuzzed out. These are normal, natural parts of the human body that are far less damaging than seeing a person ripped apart limb from limb, shot in the head, or obliterated by bombs/gunfire whatever.

          I mean, I don't get it? I really really don't :S

I don't know. As someone that was horny at 10 and that found hardcore porn, I think that maybe kids should be barred from over-nipple-age. It messed me up a bit in ways I won't tell.
Violence never meant anything to me as a kid, so maybe I'm just weird.

and you never thought that had anything to do with the fact that you were exposed to violence more readily than the other?

I have seen this way too many times to count. The most recent was at the store my husband works in. Kid comes in with his aunt to pick up God of War. They are promptly informed of the content and all was okay until auntie heard there was nudity. She almost had a heart attack. I mean the kid might see a boob! So she ends up getting him some ninja fighting games. So fighting and killing is okay, but no flesh.

This seems to be a big American hang up. The American society has placed such emphasis on violence through not only tv and movies, but the news as well that we have all been pretty much desensitized. Our society has made nudity and sex a taboo. It is not healthy to look upon the flesh of others, unless it is rotting away or bloodied.

It annoys the hell out of me and I just won't understand this.

Well, I never had a comparable "violence drive" demanding I seek it out.
Either way, I still say that sex should not inundate children as much as it does.
