  • Foam Soap

That foaming soap malls and other places put in their dispensers. I hate that stuff. It's overly perfumed, so it gives me a headache as the scent lingers on my hands, it doesn't feel as nice to wash with as regular liquid soap, and my hands always feel nasty after using it.

So, yeah. I hate that stuff.

Ditto, ditto, ditto! Cant' stand the stuff. It kind of feels like I'm trying to wash my hands with hair mousse...

My mom sent me some interesting travel soap stuff. It comes in little mini paper thin circles. Splash of water and it's soap that actually lathers like soap and feels so much better. I told her I need another dozen or so, just to get through the rest of the year.

I don't feel like it is really cleaning anything.

I have a Spongebob-like tendency to like to make bubbles out of that stuff in the bathrooms at work.

It's more to kill germs than to clean your hands. It contains alcohol it in to kill bacteria.

On the bright side, it DOES do a great job of helping to clean glass windows.

Y'know, this may gross y'all out, but sometimes I look at the nasty sinks on campus, and decide to risk it and just use the anti-bac I keep in my purse. For a top tier R1 institution with the #1 nationally ranked basketball team....our bathrooms are nasty!

Really? Foam soap is alcohol-based? I find that difficult to believe.

Yes. Since it's usually simply regular soap that's gone through a whipping process, I do find the alcohol-base difficult to fathom, since it's still glycol-based. Unless you're talking about something different.

ETA: Sorry, glycerine. Not glycol. Duh.

I'm sorry to say that I love foaming soap. It's less likely to leave a unpleasant residue afterward.

I don't like the foaming stuff, either. Yea, it's easier to rinse off, but it just doesn't feel CLEAN when I'm done. I usually end up washing my hands twice because it just doesn't get rid of that funky, greasy, unwashed hands feel.

Personally, I think it's almost always better to use anti-bacterial gel than to wash your hands in a public restroom.

I wash my hands at home, but in public washrooms I avoid touching as many things as possible. I use a huge dollop of the gel in my purse instead.

Not a big fan of that stuff, either. I end up using tons of it because I don't feel like it's getting the job done.

As for touching things in nasty bathrooms, just use the paper towel you dried your hands off with to turn off the water and open the door.

And I have been known to use sanitizer even after washing my hands in some bathrooms.

But at that point I've already had to turn off the faucets and touch the paper towel dispenser.

The only time I'll wash my hands in a public restroom is if everything (faucets and hand dryers) is automatic.

Here's some fun for ya. The soap is a bigger worry than the faucet and paper towel dispenser.
