  • I am not here to PVP

I was playing WOW and questing. I play on the server I do because my friend since college plays on it and with her being a single mom who lives 30 minutes away and my busy work schedule, especially with the overtime this month.

Anyway I digress. So the server I am on happens to be a PVP server. A function I choose not to engage in and most people respect it when I say no thanks to a duel.

You are not impressing me or convincing me to fight you when you then run around clucking like a chicken. Your also not going to convince me to pvp when you stand in front of my target and attempt to get me to target you instead.

I find it even less impressive when you are sufficiently high enough level to kill me in two hits. But it becomes flat out stupid when you wait for me to res and then kill me again. Thanks for your time but you fail.

This is why I refuse to play on PvP servers in games like WoW. I have friends who play on PvP servers and beg me to make characters on their server so I can play with them. Not happening. If they want to play with me so badly, they can roll a character on my server (PvE) not the other way around.

This happened to me once when I was a WoW newb. I was leveling in the Barrens, probably around level 12-15. A group of high-level Alliance characters (I was playing Horde) came up and gathered around me as I was fighting something...then one of them stepped right in front of me. I don't know exactly what happened but the next thing I knew, I was PvP flagged and they slaughtered me. Camped my corpse, too, till I got fed up enough and logged for a while.

I am tempted to server switch after that incident it was fricking annoying more than anything. I don't take the game too seriously but it's one of the few things I have time to do in the evenings after work.

I understand wanting to play on the same server as your friend. Maybe you can both switch to the same server, or both roll new characters on a different server, if you want to move to a PvE server? When my husband and I started playing the game, we picked a PvE server together to play on. A lot of our other friends play the game, but none of them are on the same server as us. It doesn't bother us much, really, because we're very casual players. We don't run raids or instances and we're not in guilds. We just duo quests together and if one of us wants to play and the other doesn't, we just farm.

Yeah pretty much the way I am I quest and explore the world. My best friend has written instructions to smash me upside the head with my Dell laptop if I get sucked in too far.

I used to hate going on "runs" in diablo and I expect I would in WoW as well. Some people are just so damn militant about what kind of char you have. I had some guys follow me around for a while once observing my character, and seeing that he kicked ass, and then invited me to their group to help them run some instance. I said sure, but then they started bitching because of the way my character was set up. Well douchebags, you saw him owning didn't you? Who cares how it works? It works!!!!!

Plus I just want to play the game and have fun. I don't need to be the ultimately ultimate warrior.

Unfortunate, but true: If you play on a PvP server, you will be forced into PvP eventually.

Does your friend know this annoys you (does it bother her too?). Reroll or server swap, otherwise you're just doing it to yourself.

(Note: I refuse to play on PvP servers because of the gankers. My only annoyances in game are the lolwutters who disrupt my RP.)

I want to be the ultimately ultimate warrior.. but only cos that's sort of the purpose of the game... I choose to do it to have fun, not to be the most uber.

PvP - no thanks! Only twice when I wanted to be... once, some guildies were getting pounded on, so they called for my (+10-15 levels higher) help... once, twice, then they didn't come back! (fun playing a rogue in stealth... hehehe)

Second time - some hordie did some sort of insult just cos I was in horde territory doing some quest. Shoulda just hit him!

And, then there was the time I had just helped out a much lower guildy, and he was PvP-On, and I'm off. Running back through the Barrens - just after a raid... he got ganked - I stayed out of it while everyone tried to coax me (well, ok, not everyone, some were cool enough to just go 'oh, ok, you're not really here for the fight, just bad timing.. enjoy!)

                I don't like PvP...
ZOE: Preacher, don't the Bible got some pretty specific things to say about killing?

SHEPHERD BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, Somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

Honestly it is the first time it's the first time it's happened to me usually I just get annoying newbies wanting met to teach them to play. I don't come on to group or teach people I prefer to solo.

The server I am on is listed as Normal so I don't know what listing means, "They can't PVP"

Well, a Normal server in WoW is basically a PvE server . So you can choose to turn PvP on or off. PvP is still an option, but unlike PvP servers, you don't have to PvP. On PvP servers, you're ALWAYS flagged for PvP (as far as I know) so you can't turn it off. It is especially frustrating when you get someone trying to PvP you on a Normal server because, hey, I'm on a non-PvP server for a reason. If you want to PvP, go to a friggin' PvP server!

I know but the problem is that if they get you to accidentally target them by jumping in front of your actual target it turns your PVP flag on. If you don't notice you targeted them and your next shot hits them .
