well to be fair the remake does suck-I'll take my Lorne Greene and my male Starbuck TYVM....kind of like the "bionic woman" remake where the writer never saw any of the original series but insisted his was somehow superior....

And I'm sorry but there is only one Buffy the vampire slayer in my world and it was played by Kristy Swanson-NOT Sarah Michelle Gellar-Joss Wheadon f'ed up the storyline for the x-men in the comic books(he changed cannon and went against the creator's wishes-big no-no there), and his screenplay ending did not fit with the rest of the movie-c'mon burning down the school, killing non-vampires to try and kill the vampires(and not being charged with anything)-plus she worked alone or with Pike, not with an entire crew, not even getting into the fact it was the end of her senior year, as in last few months-and she killed the head vampire-there were no vampires left at the end of the movie-either version! So how do we end up with a series that lasts several years of her killing vampires and deamons(which were never mentioned), with a group of people that didn't exist before? He ignores his own cannon-that is a bad writer.

THANK YOU! I hate what little I've seen of that show. And not just because it's different, but because it's so freaking MELODRAMATIC, all the time. How have those characters not committed suicide by now, they're always "on the edge" and "intense" and "gritty" and whatever other words are cool at the moment. It's just a bad, depressing show to me.

Personally, I think the new BG is freaking brilliant.

I saw the old show when I was a kid. I loved it, but looking back at it, it really wasn't that great. It was good for what it was, WHEN it was, but the remake blew me out of my chair.

Not really, they changed his story to the movie, Whedon wasn't happy with what they made and so ignored the movie as canon for the series, kind of like tSCC ignored T3's existance.

from what I've read the only thing changed was she didn't murder her fellow classmates in cold blood and get away with it(burning down the gym), so because they changed the fact that she murdered innocent students he threw a temper tantrum and walked out.

More that they changed it from a dark horror sort to a comedy.

                  Geekdom... hmmmm.......

Firstly, most of my mates back home who were computer geeks were also metal heads! (for that matter, many goths were computer geeks as well..) Suits and ties were a weird thing to see - black t-shirts were standard fare. Most were LAN gamers, and the occasional online FPS. I was really the only MMO person, or RPG for that matter (not that I'm much of a geek.. sure, know a little DOS, can install my hardware (but not build from scratch - jumpers and all), and other stuff...

And sci-fi is/was big - esp B5! And Highlander (if you want to talk about canon breaks!)
ZOE: Preacher, don't the Bible got some pretty specific things to say about killing?

SHEPHERD BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, Somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

...and they all come from some far away planet. I still think Connor > Duncan, but Methos rocked.

If Garibaldi didn't have that Daffy Duck poster than I probably never would have gotten into Babylon 5; then again, I mostly watched it for the Vorlons and Shadows, anyway.

Well yeah but they had to write him out before his age became too obvious

Say what??? That's almost as cracked as the ending!!! Especially with the bit when Connor is 'teaching' Duncan to use a katana - Connor's is all over the place, while Duncan's at least looked like he knew what he was doing.. (years of constant training to do the series will do that - as against an occasional movie or actiing bit).

Conner's Christopher Lambert is awesome but he is aging.

Meh, what can I say? I pretty much only took to the first movie and that was all. Then again, I also enjoyed Christopher as Raiden in the first Mortal Kombat film, so that has something to do with it, as well.

(I'd definitely say I've filled my geek quota by discussing this; if that's not enough, I'm not too far away from the 10th anniversary of my GameFAQs account).

he one thing I don't do with my favorite shows that would be geeky (and I have to at times force myself) is debate how realistic tv shows are. Like stargate I could tear into, but I try to restrain myself.
