  • Companies That Sign You Up for Service Without Talking to You

My mom was going over the bills on Saturday and she got to the phone bill. For some reason, it was $20 more than usual. She found a random charge for $20 and Verizon to find out what was going on. They said it's a service that we had to sign up for to get charged but none of us have even heard of it. My mom tried calling the company but they aren't open on weekends. I looked it up and multiple websites popped up saying this company is a scam.

Seriously, do these jerk offs REALLY think we wouldn't notice another $20 on our bill? It's not like our regular bill is over $1000 where $20 isn't a big difference. It nearly doubled our bill. Wtf!?

Ah damn. And my family was really considering Verizon when our contract is up so we can quit getting scammed by AT&T and their inept billing systems and scam artists of employees.

One time I ordered something off of TV and was told it came with a free magazine subscription.....it wasn't free. I had to call over and over until I could finally verbally abuse someone to QUIT sending me and billing me this stuff and that it was wrong to tell me it was free. I say verbally abuse because I got the run around and the almost flat-out refusal "Oh, but if you keep subscribed, we'll throw in this this this and this!" or "This is a great deal you cannot turn down!"

People I used to work with used to do this - sign people up for home long distance without their consent (BTW - this is ILLEGAL).

I got in big trouble for complaining about it.
