Some girl who I vaguely know (she's friends with other people in the chem department) just uploaded a bumper sticker that says, "Kill a pregnant woman, it's double murder. Have an abortion, it's called pro-choice. Doesn't make sense!" Then she commented on it saying, "both are 100% murder". My natural instinct is to comment on it and rip on her. (This isn't a debate on whether abortion is right or wrong so debating it will result in...well, I can't do anything about it but damnit, don't do it) But this is facebook we're talking about. Facebook isn't meant for debating. Flaunting that kind of BS pisses me off though. The morons who go on campus holding signs with pictures of dead fetuses is more than enough. I don't need to deal with this crap on facebook.

When people do crap like that I either 1) Hide them from my News/Live feed or 2) take them off my friends list entirely. I usually do 1 for people who constantly post Bible verses, pro-life propaganda, OVERWHELM my live feed with pictures of their kids, post pictures of anything gross (kid covered with food, hunting trophies, etc.), or, in one case, post their own ultrasounds. Ew. 2 is reserved for blantantly racist or homophobic remarks, including using "that's gay" as an insult.
My Live Feed is cleaner and I don't have to deal with crap from idiots. (Oh, and I also hide any and all applications that pop up from time to time.)

On my profile, on those causes thingies that are important to you, I CHOSE to keep "Pro Choice" on the main spot because I want the same freedom to be able to voice my opinion as the abortion clinic bombing pro-lifer who calls me "pro murder" on the other side of the fence.
Besides, not everyone who is pro-choice is even pro-abortion. The main word in there is CHOICE. That's why I like it and am all for it.

I second Blas on the word 'CHOICE'
Personally, I would not get an abortion unless the pregnancy is a threat on my life. However, if another woman wants to, that is their choice. I have no business in it.
I love my grandma, but when I say that it's none of my business, she tells me that it is. However, she can never give me a reason why it is.
At the same time, pro-lifers can say their opinion too.
If people are holding signs with pictures of aborted fetuses, then you can hold up your own with your opinion. It happened with a guy on my campus. He had a sign that told us we were all going to hell because we were homosexual fornicators who drink beer as we lie to our parents (paraphrasing here) and two students got in front of him and held out a Gay Pride rainbow flag."It's after Jeopardy, so it is my bed time."- Me when someone made a joke about how "old" I am.

I am honestly curious as to why ultrasound photos are gross? I never thought anything of it when I added my ultrasound pictures to my FB photo gallery. Mainly because it was an easy way to share them with friends and family who I knew wanted to see them. It never occurred to me that someone might be offended by them.
My SIL is one who constantly does the religious/pro-life/obnoxious propaganda updates all. the. time. I don't think the woman has an original thought in her head. Everything is like, "JESUS LOVES ME!!!111ELEVENTY!! Post this if you know Jesus loves you too!!! 95% of people won't post this!!BLARGLE!" Drives me crazy.- Kim

I was forced to explain to my (at that time) two grade school age daughters what abortion was when we passed pro-lifers holding up very large, graphic signs in front of a lawyers office. I was taking them to school and we were on a main road through town. I did my best to explain it, saying that when a woman is pregnant and cannot or decides not to have a baby an abortion is the operation she has to take the baby out. My oldest asked what happens to the baby and I had to explain that the baby died. Well, she thought that was horrible!!! I tried to explain that it is a very complicated issue and she was too young to fully understand, then let it go. I am still pissed that I was forced to explain something that I was not ready to and I do not think my daughters were ready to hear. both are well adjusted teenagers now and neither one has gone off the deep end about abortion. I can see how that could happen if I had an agenda and forced my beliefs on them.

A baby IS newsworthy, and would presumably be of interest to one's friends. If I'm not interested in keeping up to date with things that are important to a particular person, then I don't make "friends" with that person on Facebook.

Forced to? My daughter is sometimes exposed to people saying things in public that I feel she is too young for so I explain it is an adult thing and change the subject to something else.
