These are the kind of people that make me embarrassed to be a Christian. I understand in some cases, parents of Haitian children were shown pamphlets with pictures of huge houses with swimming pools, and were under the impression that if they signed their child over, it would go to a similar American home.

Even in the case they were not trafficking, which I'm still suspicious of, what they did was ignorant beyond reason. I guess they missed that bit in the Bible where Jesus tells us we are to obey they law, unless following the law would mean doing something immoral, etc. This means OBEY THE RULES, dammit!

I once made the mistake of taking a kitchen job for a religious organization. Never. Again. They were breaking so many laws and regulations (including child labor) it wasn't even funny.

They can get better lives for their children, but in exchange their children lose their countries' culture and religion in the process.

        But it usually does:

"The concern of the American religious right with modern slavery, and in particular its obsession with sex slavery and sex trafficking while refusing to address other forms of slavery — debt bondage, etc. — or the abject poverty that makes so many vulnerable to enslavement.

Here's a pretty good article on the Haiti "orphans" and other "orphans" taken by groups claiming to be Christian(I say claiming-because an actual Christian would not take a child from their parents because they were a non-christian-Jesus said "love thy neighbour as thyself" there were no qualifiers in there)-including a group called "Zoe's Ark" that attempted to kidnap 103 children From Chad claiming the were "orphans from Darfur"-they were sentenced to 8 years hard labor and have to pay almost 9 million in restitution. They claim they were "duped" by middlemen because they went in and just asked for war orphans-you don't just waltz into any random country and ask for orphans-the arrogance of these groups is abhorrent.
