  • But you have to have a phone *gasp*

I understand that when I am in town going to and from work, hanging out with friends, and bombing around town that a phone is a helpful device. I will not ever take my cell with me on vacation.

I have no interest in you calling me up everyday on my trip to find out how things are going. I am on vacation to get the fuck away. Yet every time that I mention my lack of desire to have a cell on vacation I seem to get a 10 minute lecture on why it is important to always be connected.

Seriously people there was a time when people didn't even have regular phones and they survived so get over it and leave me the fuck alone.

I'd always want to have a phone on me incase something happened to a family member, severe injury or death. I would want to know as soon as possible even if the phone sat in my room until I checked the messages at the end of the day.

Ditto, I may not be answering my phone, but I do want to have that means of getting in touch if absolutely necessary... that and my GPS is on my phone, and I have become so dependent on the Utah grid system that I'm not sure I can survive anywhere other than Reno without the assistance of GPS

I use my cellphone as a timepiece, so I don't have to wear a watch. I took mine on my trip in case I needed it, but I didn't make any calls- the roaming charges would have been crazy!

I also have my phone on me at all times, well not while investigating. I would want to know right then, if something happened to a love one. Also my GPS is on my phone, sooooo.

I don't have a landline; that is where the computer is hooked up. Therefore, I need to have my phone around so I can be contacted.

I also use my cell phone as my sole means of communication. That being said, if I'm on vacation, I'm not answering it. I'll check messages and make sure there are no emergencies, but other than that, I ignore it.

So, I have no problem with someone else ignoring their phone, too.

There was a time when we didn't have cell phones, and we all got on just fine. People have to get over it if they can't get me OMG RIGHT NAO!11!@!
