people would stop telling me my child NEEDS a brother or sister. She already HAS a brother AND a sister. Yes, they have a different mother. Yes, they are 11 and 12 years older than she is. They are still her brother and sister! It is not my responsibility to pop out as many children as other people deem necessary.

But.... if you don't have a boy, then you don't have the whole set! You must complete your collection.

That's exactly how those kinds of statements feel to me. It seems like many people view children as collectible dolls to play with. People like my mother in law, for example, who I am convinced just wants a grandbaby to dress it up in cute outfits and display it. It just makes me want to gag up my duodenum.

Some people think a kid needs siblings to grow up balanced. There is some merit since alot of single children get spoiled.

Thing is, my daughter isn't a single child. She's the youngest of three. Her brother lives with us, and her sister stays with us every Wednesday and every other weekend.
