Overworked

So last week, during one of the lulls in the fish frenzy, we all decided we'd catch up on a few things since we actually had the time. At exactly that same moment, our shit-for-brains boss decided to actually come see what goes on in the plant. Long story short - he observes us for 30 seconds making ice and decides that we don't need 6 people making ice - so without doing any sort of investigating or deductive reasoning or anything he just snatches two of our co-workers away.

So now there's 4 of us doing what there should be at least six people doing, for no real reason other than the boss is an idiot. And working at this frenzied pace, someone is going to make a mistake and get hurt, and he's gonna have a lot of stupid paperwork to fill out. So he's just hurting himself. Ass.

Once again, a daily occurance at my place of work.

What really infuriates me is that they get rid of me and make me go back and work somewhere that I applied OUT of, and then take people from other places in the factory to go work in MY area. That is not right.

Something that happened at my first factory job. They would take people out of those departments and put them someplace else. Then they grab other people, to take care of your your job - that they took you away from. And usually, those people are slower then you are.

That's what I've been afraid of lately, too. I don't want to get snatched up to go slicing fish. I'm hoping my excuse will last - I sweat. All over the fish. That's a major no-no as far as the health inspector is concerned.

But I hate being in uncomfortable situations where I don't know what's going on and aren't quite sure of myself. Which is what will happen if they start putting me in a new position every couple of weeks.

That's exactly what happens where I work, powerboy.

In the old days, they'd pull temps or the newest people to go fill gaps, NOT the most experienced or fastest workers. Now they pull the experienced ones and fill the gaps of me and my coworkers with temps and slow new people.

That's what they did to me in my warehouse job in PA. We'd start out with perfect coverage for what we had to do that night. And by one hour in, our coverage invariably got gutted, usually to go help out receiving or processing, or worse yet, to go fold up boxes. Meanwhile, we'd be stuck with almost half of our crew trying to get 30,000 pieces out the warehouse. THEN, management would always want to know why we were behind.
