We have VoIP phones so they require a constant connection to the network (RJ-45). If one goes offline for more than a few minutes an alarm goes off and I get a ticket to find out what's wrong.
99% of the time someone unplugged it. I do have signs on all of them saying "DO NOT UNPLUG, DISCONNECT, OR MOVE THIS PHONE" plus each one has an RJ-45 passthough so you can connect a computer to it for a connection (like how computer modems work).
We also have a teleconference room and that equipment needs to be plugged in 24-7 or else it also will set off an alarm. Again, I have signs "DO NOT DISCONNECT OR UNPLUG THIS EQUIPMENT". On a weekly basis someone unplugs it despire the room having 5 more RJ-45 ports and most supervisors have 8-16 port hubs they can just plug into one for more connection **AND** a secured WiFi network that they can also connect to.
READ PEOPLE!! I have more important things to worry about than checking to make sure things are plugged in every day!
