  • I am NOT Anti American

Ok if one more person in MI accuses me of being anti American because I dont believe in modern unions I am going to have to have my Prozac upped or I am going to flipping hurt someone.

I just got a ten min rant from a friend (well they were a friend so I thought) Because I want to buy a "NON"American car and I work for Wal-mart... cause wal-mart is the only damn company that sells foreign goods... *face palm*

I swear to god what the hell is wrong with people... Buying a GM doesnt make you more American then me... damn it. Nor does you working for X company that is union.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.. neither does saying the pledge or having a flag or any of the other shit

Wal-Mart is also not the people to blame when other companies go over seas.... we sell the shit not make it.

Ok going to take my over tired bitch anti american satinic ass to bed.... arrrrrrrrrrg
not what I needed after service desk today

Do you know how to play made in america??? You go into wal-mart and try and first person to find a product made in america wins.... Sadly as you pointed out it is ALL stores that have shit made in china look at all the toy recalls lately. The United Auto Workers that come into my store make comments about my honda civic and wonder where my ford ranger is at.... Sorry at 2.85 a gallon and rising my sushi boat floats along at 30mpg when I floor it off every stop and barrel down the expressway. NOW, if I smoothly accelerate not going above 2.5K RPM certainly not 3K and coast up to stops. make all the lights. and don't go above 55mph. I can get 18mpg. OH yeah, the other day my civic was getting 34mpg and the truck was at 14mpg.

I think it was rocky mountain boots or some company like that an older coworker told me when he was a kid growing up probably 30yrs ago you could do down to the factory and watch the boots being made. Now you can still go down and watch them being assembled. (not made in america). What they do is take the boots out of the box, put on laces and throw them back in a box. the rest of the assembly is done overseas.

OH crap forgot my favorite thing about Honda, they have plants in Marysville Ohio

Then most people I know in unions get screwed. Kinda funny that the wal-mart employees around here get paid more than the United Food and Commerical Workers. My ex was pissed that because they got a raise in the contract for new bank tellers they would get $9per hour. after her .25 rasie she would amke 9.05, SO she basicly lost her raise and if she were to quit and go back because of her expereince she would actually make proably 9.50- $10.

The best part of living in my area when it comes to things like this is the fact that I've visited all of the presidential and wartime monuments almost a dozen times each just counting field trips up through high school... that must make me next year's president

Yeah, the thing about most "foreign" cars is that many are actually made in American factories, and most of those factories are in the South ('right to work' states). I love my Toyota Camry, thankyouverymuch, and I might even be trading in for a newer Corolla soon.

This state is simply retarded about unions.... and modern unions are retarded themselves.
I am now working at Home Depot, and they hate us non-union workers, too. Not too long ago, they held a protest in front of my store (this was before I worked there, but I saw it). They had an inflatable baloon of an 8-foot rat brought in to accentuate their point.
How did they get the balloon there? Heh. They rented a truck to haul it... rented it from Home Depot.

I too am anti-union. Why? Well, considering that the unions had a hand in wrecking SW PA's economy...and then left their unemployed members behind...the unions can go fuck themselves. Once necessary, they're simply a relic of the past.

One of the most common claims against foreign items, is that the "profits go back to Japan/Korea/Asia/etc." Nearly all of the people who make that claim...forget that many of those companies have plants here. Those same companies spend a crapload of cash hiring *Americans* to work in those plants, to advertise their products, insure their factories (not to mention the products after they get sold!), run their delivery trucks, fix their machines, do their accounting. So what if the profits go home? All the things I just mentioned...mean that money is being spent locally, which is *usually* a bit more than the profits

I also don't get why people go on about how they hate Japan--usually, it's some comment about "slant-eye Jap gooks bombing Pearl Harbor" or the Bataan Death March Yet, what the Nazis did to our (and by that I mean *all* the Allies, not just the US!) guys in Europe....seems to go unnoticed. What the fuck?

While I'm ranting, I don't buy the whole "Buy American" idea either. Why the hell should I support a company that sells shitty or expensive products? If the foreign-made item does the same job, will last longer, or is less expensive, why not? I don't care where a product comes from--as long as it works or does the job, I'm happy. Trust me, buying something from overseas doesn't make you "less American," nor does buying something made here do the opposite. Anyone who thinks so, is a moron.

              Crap.

Now I'm starting to miss that airated* Russian chocolate that the last store I worked for sometimes carried.

*I fail at spelling, but I'm also too lazy to look it up.

Yeah! I agree. While the japanese are not doing anything harmful these days there are still nazi followers going around and doing some crazy shit.......that's worth worrying about.

In the beginning of the year I traded in my Mercury Sable for an '07 V6 Hyundai Sonata.

People at work were saying, "What happened to buy American?"

Funny thing... the Sonata is American. It's made in Alabama.

I got something similar the other day except the part about being anti American, apparently i'm very pro American and anti Australian because I put in the wrong code for oranges for a customer, they were valencia oranges and I typed in Navel oranges which led to a 5 min rant how navel oranges are American and she refuses to buy American products, and I'm unaustralian because of my simple mistake.

Either way someone does business, they're going to piss off part of the country:

                        Buy American: isolationist
                        Buy Foreign: anti-American
                        Buy "all natural": Hippie
                        Buy brand name: elitist snob
Buy Union: you're ruining the country
Buy non-union: you're ruining the country
Buy a pickup truck (no matter the engine size): ruining the world (and anti-American)
Buy a "sensible" car: Anti-American AND a hippie

For me, I'm somewhat pro-Union. Right now I work in a non-Union location and am liking it. I work for one of the few companies that actually are competent and don't try to completely screw employees. I am glad I was union when I was at Kroger. That manager was completely evil and tried to fire people for non-legit reasons.
