My brother who is learning disabled bought a 1600pt card for $19.96 waited a few months before scratching off the back and going to claim it. Turns out someone has already fraudulently claimed it. They said sorry nothing we can do. So, I called them and no supervisors were available they took call back information. That was 10 days ago was supposed to get a call back within a few business days. Since i had time today i called them back and beat the dead horse because the escalation tech wanted to help me he really did, he spoke English understood why I was pissed, but told me according to internal policies there was nothing he could do and gladly referred me to his supervisor. Didn't understand the supervisor's name. He reinforced the fact that I'm screwed becasue I'm a paying customer. Once the code has been claimed there is nothing they can do. Also, they can't give me ANY information on the account that claimed it. Because i can't answer the right questions, I could tell the sup was getting pissed when i started naming off random names. since really someone electronically stole the code from xbox.

The card had never been scratched off until 5minutes before my brother went to claim it, it has never left our house, I have the recepit that unfortunately cash was used. I was told I need to take the issue up with where i bought the card becasue there is NO WAY that their system could be compromised. Oddly, guy at wal-mart said he has heard of this happening lately and there is nothing they can do as it is MICROSOFTS system and problem. They wouldn't even tell me the location, because i was trying to point out the fact that if it isn't a person from my state. HOW THE HELL could they have came to my house and stole the code?

Is there anything I can do? Also, I could probably use the fact he refused to transfer me to his boss, as he claimed that isn't his bosses job description. My thoughts are my brother paid for a code. someone found out algorithm and generated that same code since they said codes are NEVER reused. The original escalation tech told me the company line of there was no way to compromise the system... when asked about jtagging, he said he was familiar with the idea. Which for those of you unaware is a method of hacking the xbox, which MS said couldn't ever be done.

Microsoft's always been into that Orwellian 'The truth is what we say it is' BS. My best guess is that they think it'll discourage people from trying to crack their system if they say it can't be done. I think the opposite is true, but hey, let 'em dig their pit.

Either way, there's basically little or nothing you can do aside from continuing to make appeals that I highly doubt will get through. Anyone with the authority to give you free points is probably either entirely separate from or a pay grade or two higher than anyone you'll get on the phone. *shrug* Though I'm anything but what one might call 'an expert'.

Haven't bought that much off of PSN myself, but when I do I make sure to buy it straight-up and not leave spare change lying around the wallet.

Lol but MS doesn't let you buy things that way. They just let their paying customers get ripped off and tell them they need to buy another $20 card that can be stolen.

So to keep up my promise of telling everyone I will ever meet about why they suck, know any websites for fraud I can go to? I'm planning on writing letter to the editor of the major newspaper around here. Along with contacting the state attorney general so they can see what can be done to MS.

Ah yes, the idiots who seem to think that the system is perfect and unbreakable...

BULLSHIT!!! For over two years I had to deal with returns and damages on their so called perfect system. And I would put good money that if it wasn't for M$ threatening legal action on anyone reverse engineering their system, it would be the most hard-modded and soft-modded system in history.
