This thread is why the Emo scene irritates me to no end and why i'm against the practice of prescribing anti-depressants and the like for psychology/psychiatry patients.

"Wah wah wah wah wah!!!!! Daddy won't buy me the new BMW!!! I'm gonna kill myself." Clinical Depression or spoiled princess?

"Wah wah wah wah wah!!!!! I have a learning disability!!!!!!" Yeah, it's called "I'm too lazy to pay attention in class, do my homework, or study for a test."

I'm gonna stop before I get too heated on this subject

There are people that do need them, but for every person that does there are probably 100 that don't. They're given them because shrinks make more money from 15 minute visitations than hour long sessions.

Stick a patient on meds and keep them coming back for life, rather than trying to help them find the root of their problems and get past them. Most of these people aren't clinically depressed/bi-polar/anti-social. They care too much about what other people think of them than their own opinions. They let other people dictate how they live their lives, what clothes they wear, or cars they drive. They are sheeple that need to learn self-reliance, self-security, and most importantly, self-respect. Those are things they'll never learn as long as they're zombied out on meds that are actually far more harmful to them than they are helpful.

As I said, I can easily go into a huge rant on this subject.

This tangent could get us far off topic. Start a new thread if you'd like to discuss the usage of psychiatry meds, please.

You know what I hate the worst about this? The fact that no matter how many times people pull that shit on you, you still end up helping them the next time. Because you never know when that next time may be the real thing...

Hence my rant. I would dearly love for some of these people to perhaps learn and move past their attitudes/ideas that are impeding them... I know it's a pipe dream and practically an impossibility, as such people are not the type given to admitting that they're wrong, but I gotta try.

                I have a learning condition!

It's called 'I don't give a shit-itis'. Common symptoms are a complete lack of motivation to learn about subjects that are or appear to be useless or uninteresting coupled with great fervor in learning about things that are useful and interesting

Or at least, that's what the aptitude test said, they hit the nail on the head with that one...

Anywho, why is it that people can't see a problem, research a solution, and either execute or admit the infeasibility of that solution? Oh, right, that both makes sense and constitutes a load of work... shame on me for expecting proactive lazy people *shrug*

I'm willing to bet that OP thought of me at least once when he was writing.

The only thing I can say here is that yeah, you're right, most of the shit I go through in life is my own problem, but usually it's not because I outright caused the problem, its more like I just didn't stand up for myself to deal with it.

I think of it this way: You ever heard that old saying that "your right to swing your fist ends in the immediate proximity of my nose"?

It seems that in most situations I get into, I am to blame simply because I didn't move my nose. And I don't see it that way. I believe my nose has every right to be where it is, and I don't feel necessarily obligated to move it just becuase you decided you wanted to swing your fist.

Obviously this is a sweeping generaliz(s)ation, but I think without being too obtuse everyone can understand what I mean.

DrF, you can go ahead and think whatever you want about what my inspiration was for this thread. Boozy already said that this topic isn't about anyone in particular.

Although I will say that the attitude expressed in your post is pretty much exactly why I have to rant like this.
