  • telemarketers for the local paper

*My gripe for the day........just wanted to make a note that I understand these people are just doing their job, but these particular telemarketers are really starting to annoy me*

It hasn't happened as often anymore, but when I would get telemarketers calling the church office, and I explained they were calling a business, that person would be all apologetic and hang up. However, telemarketers trying to sell subcriptions to one of our local papers have became major pests - they don't call every day/hour/week/, but when they do, upon being told that they've called a business, the telemarketer ALWAYS switches over to trying to give me a personal sales pitch for getting the paper at home.

Which really gets on my nerves - I can sort of understand if they have to follow a certain script, but it's gotten to where (and I know I should've done this awhile back) I've had to put the church office number on the "Do Not Call" list, and I'm planning to contact the customer service department for this particular paper with a complain regarding their telemarketing practices.

Our local paper--the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette--does exactly that. They won't take a hint that we're a business, and will spend the entire day calling us about subscriptions. Then they get upset when we tell them to put us on the do not call list...or if we ask for a supervisor, and tell them to stop calling.

9 times out of 10 they'll hit us up for a home subscription. Seriously? Are you fucking kidding me? I've already told you that I don't want your shitty paper at work. What makes you think that I want it at home? I mean, it's not like you can get the same info online now

Better info even, if I am remebering the Post Gazette correctly. Decent comics page, though.
