Reading some of what protege had to say about one of his ex coworkers got me thinking. Thinking about how much I hate when people get caught, get in trouble, whine, place/shift blame, make excuses, kick and scream....
I hail from the great Dairy and Beer state of Wisconsin. Naturally, just about everyone I know either has one DUI or has gotten in some kind of trouble because of alcohol.
It simply fucking amazes me how almost NONE of them are willing to just admit they were stupid and got caught. No, the cops didn't set you up. They may be out in force and pulling over a lot of people for stupid reasons, but if you hadn't had too much to drink, you would have been just fine and probably not gotten in any trouble or just gotten a warning/fix it ticket for whatever you were pulled over for.
Seriously, are you still going to be blaming other people or refusing to take resonsibility when you are 30? 40? 50? Some of them even have a kid or two....do you plan to or have you already taught them that it's ok to blame others and you never have to be responsible for your own fuck ups?
My bf to this day still blames the police for every time he's ever been arrested. No, they did not set you up. If you want to outsmart the police, don't get drunk and drive. Don't run away if you get caught. If you have already gotten into trouble, DON'T GET INTO ANY MORE!
There are lots of rules in life. There are laws to follow. Can I somewhat quote a classic movie line? "STOP BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!"
And yes, I want to shout that at everyone that gives me their world's smallest violin story about their legal troubles or troubles at work.
Let's shift this off of alcohol and DUIs. Any legal trouble can suffice. I may hate being pulled over or getting fix it tickets, and sure I think a lot of cops are vicious assholes, but if I didn't have that light out or that loud muffler, I wouldn't have been pulled over.
Or when it comes to work....my gosh people....if you are going to have shady attendance and frequently call in sick (and if you are stupid enough to brag about what you did while you called out) do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT bitch and whine about trouble you get in, or if the boss finally brings you down, don't act all surprised. There are rules and terms to your employment. If you want time off, take a vacation, use PTO....quit calling in sick because you think it's easier. (I understand not everyone has PTO or vacation, I'm just talking about where I work where we do have it and acrue it).
