  • People Who Get Caught And Whine..

Reading some of what protege had to say about one of his ex coworkers got me thinking. Thinking about how much I hate when people get caught, get in trouble, whine, place/shift blame, make excuses, kick and scream....

I hail from the great Dairy and Beer state of Wisconsin. Naturally, just about everyone I know either has one DUI or has gotten in some kind of trouble because of alcohol.

It simply fucking amazes me how almost NONE of them are willing to just admit they were stupid and got caught. No, the cops didn't set you up. They may be out in force and pulling over a lot of people for stupid reasons, but if you hadn't had too much to drink, you would have been just fine and probably not gotten in any trouble or just gotten a warning/fix it ticket for whatever you were pulled over for.

Seriously, are you still going to be blaming other people or refusing to take resonsibility when you are 30? 40? 50? Some of them even have a kid or two....do you plan to or have you already taught them that it's ok to blame others and you never have to be responsible for your own fuck ups?

My bf to this day still blames the police for every time he's ever been arrested. No, they did not set you up. If you want to outsmart the police, don't get drunk and drive. Don't run away if you get caught. If you have already gotten into trouble, DON'T GET INTO ANY MORE!

There are lots of rules in life. There are laws to follow. Can I somewhat quote a classic movie line? "STOP BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!"

And yes, I want to shout that at everyone that gives me their world's smallest violin story about their legal troubles or troubles at work.

Let's shift this off of alcohol and DUIs. Any legal trouble can suffice. I may hate being pulled over or getting fix it tickets, and sure I think a lot of cops are vicious assholes, but if I didn't have that light out or that loud muffler, I wouldn't have been pulled over.

Or when it comes to work....my gosh people....if you are going to have shady attendance and frequently call in sick (and if you are stupid enough to brag about what you did while you called out) do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT bitch and whine about trouble you get in, or if the boss finally brings you down, don't act all surprised. There are rules and terms to your employment. If you want time off, take a vacation, use PTO....quit calling in sick because you think it's easier. (I understand not everyone has PTO or vacation, I'm just talking about where I work where we do have it and acrue it).

I've always wondered where this deep-seated hatred/mistrust of police officers comes from...

Wow, for someone who doesn't care for threadjacking of his own threads surely has no qualms of jacking another person's thread!

Sadly, some people never will take the responsibility for their problems. These twits (and I'm being nice) enjoy being "victims" all the time. They simply don't have the balls to admit that they fucked up, and will instead try to blame someone else.

This type of thing drives me insane. I've heard people say the police shouldn't be allowed to park out of sight, because it's not fair. Well guess what people, you're supposed to be obeying the laws ALL the time, not just when cops are present.

Complaining about getting caught DUI is pretty dumb, but I can sort of understand why some people grumble about speeding tickets. I mean, if you follow the speed limit most of the time, except for that one day you were in a hurry and THAT was when the cops were running radar, then I can sort of sympathize. It wasn't the cops setting them up, but I can understand the WTF? mentality.

BTW, I've only had one speeding ticket in my life, and that was in 2001. I got it on Valentine's Day, if I remember correctly.

                Urk. Pet peeve!! Big one.

Not so much the DUI thing, but the getting caught. my not so illustrious coworkers, Idjit and Fuckwit were ranting recently about how it's soooooooo unfair they got written up. They were caught listening to their ipods on the SALES floor. AND talking on their cell phones in front of customers. BIG no-nos. And Fuckwit, he's been signed in on the internet, (his google account) for the last THREE days, so whenever I go to bring up the web for something or other, I have to nix the popups for whatever fucktastic sites he's been looking at, AND it's at the point where, when Idjit brings up her facebook page, (another no-no, but like she cares...?) it pops up with Fuckwits homepage. That's just sad.

but of course, they can't be blamed for ANY of this, because it's not their fault. At all. Management is just out to get 'em.

I can't stand it. Especially for major stuff (people who drink and drive, underage drinking, drugs, etc.). Maybe if you weren't breaking the law, you wouldn't have gotten in trouble. What does a cop hiding have to do with the fact that you were breaking the law?

When I get busted for something (only ever happened once for speeding) I own up to it, my advice to those who get all pissy about it is to quote Jim Carrey "STOP BREAKING THE LAW ASSHOLE!"

There's a fine line between whining and making excuses and actual mitigating circumstances. If someone does something illegal, it's on them for doing it. But there are plenty of instances where said laws are poorly defined, wrongly enforced, or quite simply bullshit.

As much as it's wrong to shift all the blame to cops and the government arbitrarily, so is shifting it to the 'criminal'. IMO, illegalizing weed is one of the stupidest things there are. In that sense, the morons who made it illegal and fail to legalize it are partially responsible for the situation as well.

As a great comedian once said "Anyone who makes up their mind before they hear the issue is fucking stupid."

So I'm going to go ahead and make a more wide-scope applicable statement:
"I hate it when assholes shift blame to cover their asses"

Because there's plenty of wrongdoing to go around. Better to sniff it out regardless of the party in question.

I'd prefer if we didn't argue about changing the law or what should and shouldn't be legal. I have my own opinions on weed and traffic laws, that I will keep to myself or make another thread about in a different section sometime (or someone else can).

I don't pat myself on the back every time I get pulled over and get a fix it ticket as if to say "You go, blas old girl, you were responsible and did the right thing!", it's just that I understand the risks of driving around with things wrong with your vehicle or disobeying traffic laws. As dumb as people may think they are, they are laws for a reason. Especially regarding people who drive drunk or impaired or constantly speed or drive recklessly and get pulled over. It couldn't be their own fault, it's those damn cops always out to get them!

Exactly. Whether or not you think something should be legal or just not illegal, you know it's illegal currently. So don't complain that you got a DUI because they pulled you over for not using your turn signal. You know it's illegal to drive drunk. You know it's illegal to turn without a turn signal. So don't complain that you got busted doing something illegal because you did something else that obviously illegal.

Years ago, they set up unmanned speed trapping vans (with cameras) along the major highways here in Ontario.

They've since stopped using them because of the outcry (the whole "Big Brother is watching you with their cameras" thing), but I'll never forget the letter to the editor I read during the debate. To paraphrase:

"It's not fair to those of us who use the highway every day for our commutes. We'll get more tickets than everyone else."

The thought that perhaps they could just NOT SPEED had never occurred to this person. They faulted the police for their tickets instead of their own law-breaking actions.

I find it absurd that some people think like this.
