  • "Don't take his shit"

    So there's this dude at work that the others aren't getting along with. Apparently he's too "bossy". He's not a boss or anything, but his position is sort of a "lead" and i'm sort of his "support", so he's constantly barking orders at me. Not rudely, and not like he's king shit, he's just telling me what he needs. Same with some other guys there, but they don't take kindly to having someone tell them what to do.

    It doesn't bother me though, because I know he's not trying to be a dick he's just telling me what he needs. But today some other guys were talking about him and how much of a dick he is, and our supervisor said "Don't take his shit, man."

    What shit? If he needs something, I get it for him so he can do his job. Because that's my job. Granted, he's a little high strung, and he does tend to get upset when people are doing nothing, but that's because if people are fucking off, he's screwed. It's not like he's messing with us, or giving us orders so he doesn't have to do any work, or anything like that.

    People need to chill.

    I have sorta the same thing at my work. My immediate supervisor, "Rick" is a lot like your lead. He's constantly giving direction and finding projects and stuff that need to get done. It pisses off a lot of the other people in my dept, who have taken to calling him "Massuh Rick" (Har! Get it, he's like a salve driver! Guffaw, guffaw.) They're always telling me that I shouldn't take his crap, but truth be told, I prefer it this way.
    I am too new there to 'get' the ebb and flow of the department, and to automatically know what stuff needs to be done, besides the basics (customer service, keeping the place clean, etc.) I'd rather shadow him and get some projects that need to be finished than wander around trying to find something to do.

      Funny how when a manager expects their subordinates to do their jobs they're "dishing out all this shit" to everyone and the people who actually do their jobs are "putting up with his shit".

      Maybe if they started to reprimand people for not doing their jobs they'd look at things differently?

        Well here's the difference between my co-worker and a manager:

        Co-worker: Can you get me some ice? I need labels too.

        <gets stuff>

        Co-worker: Thanks.

        That's how a co-worker does it.

        This is how a manager does it.

        Manager: I need ice.

        <goes to get ice>

        Manager: Where the fuck are you going? I SAID I WANTED LIDS!

        <goes to get lids>

        Manager: Good. Now where's the ice?!?!?!?!?
