  • People who leave bad reviews for products/restaurants for dumb reasons

    For example:

Product on Amazon. Could be anything. A toaster, let's say. Generally, it has positive reviews. But inevitably, there will be at least one person who will leave a 1 star review, with the reason being, "UPS lost my package and it was 2 days late." How the hell does that tell anyone else about the product itself? How does that even have anything to do with the product or the seller? Go give UPS a 1 star review, not the product.

Or, take the same situation. Say it's a stick of RAM. Again, for the most part the product has positive reviews. But someone gives it a 1 star because when they received it, it was snapped in half, and they were so upset and traumatized, that they wanted their money back instead of being sent a new one. So they give the product a 1 star even though they never used it!

Here's a great one that I just read about regarding a restaurant. A tourist dined at this restaurant and said the food and service was great. But they only gave the restaurant a 3 star (out of 5) rating, because the restaurant was located in an area far enough from their hotel, that they had to pay a cab driver $20 just to get there. How the hell is that the restaurant's fault?

Or another great restaurant complaint: "My husband and I decided to dine at this restaurant at 6:00 Valentine's Day evening. We did not have reservations, and they told us it would be an hour late. 15 minutes later, a couple came in, stated they had reservations, and were seated immediately! This is horrible service!" Yes, because, how does that saying go? Lack of planning on your part...

People like this need to not leave reviews. They're utterly worthless and don't actually tell others about the product or service itself, just how dumb the reviewer is.

I could hug you. I am totally in agreement about this.

I like to know about places in my area to dine and it bugs me when they base part of their review on factors that have nothing to do with Restaurant.

Or movies using what a person did in their personal life as a guage of if the movie was good.

I'm glad Amazon shows actual reviews instead of just star ratings for exactly this reason. Of course, when the individual reviews each make sense by themselves but say opposite things, that's not so helpful either. Books, music, etc., sure, but opinions on whether, for example, a laptop AC adapter works like it's supposed to or not really shouldn't vary much.

Reminds me of the c-store I used to work at. We had these random coupons that would print off and require the customer to take a short survey to get a $3 discount. It asked questions like how clean was the store, was the cashier polite, did you find everything you wanted, etc....rating on a scale of 1-5.

People always gave us 1's because of the high gas prices. They ignored all the questions and on the voice comment they'd even admit that they like the store but gave us low scores because we set the gas prices so high. Because I, DrFaroohk, am the King Gas Price Setter.

What's worse was that the company had zero leniency in the scores. Low scores = BAD. Even when its been flat out admitted you got sabotaged, they didn't care. Fuckers.

You got the blame for that too Doc? Gaaah that used to have me rolling in my bed dreaming of stabbing all my customers with dull knives.

Yes, I'm in charge of all these outrageous gas prices. A little 18 year old girl making $6.50 an hour is the big boss!
