This bugs me and it seems to happen every time I go to the shops.
I'm talking about people who go speeding through shopping malls at ridiculous speeds in electric scooters/wheelchairs, nearly hitting people or making them have to jump out of the way.
Now, before anyone says it, I'm not saying that some people don't need these mobility devices. There are many people who benefit greatly from them due to paralysis, neurological disorders, or just frailty due to advancing age. That being said, it doesn't give them the right to nearly mow down other people just because they're in a hurry. Kids get told off if they run through the malls, but people in scooters and electric wheelchairs can nearly run over people and fly through the centres at nearly 15km/hr and mall security doesn't raise an eyebrow.
What brought this up was that fact that yesterday I was nearly hit by one of these bastards. It's hard to jump out of the way when one of your legs is stuck in a full brace. Aren't there speed limits for scooters and electric wheelchairs? And why do people look at me like I'm worse than scum when I yell at these individuals for being arseholes?
