Since I have a hearing problem, I usually have the TV or radio/headphones up to a point where I can hear it decently. If I can hear the TV three rooms over, I turn it down to where it won't bother anyone else. If I can hear the TV from that far away that's not "normal", that's loud, even for my "normal".

...but what they do about it may well be to stop responding at all.
Again, this. If I keep bothering the police about something that I can eventually tune out, then I could be considered as someone who's bothering the police too much.

Exactly. Eventually, the cops are going to get tired of being called for it. Instead, they'll probably bust *you* for wasting their time.

Take the goofballs that live next door to my parents. Since they moved in, the cops have been called for people parking in front of their house (on a public street), borough workers doing work in the street, or other stupid crap. The last straw came...was when the called the cops over a broken flower in their yard. Supposedly, the woman had 'evidence' that my brother did it. What was the evidence? Nothing more...than a photo of him sitting on the couch in *our* living room. Holy invasion of privacy, Batman In fact, the cop actually told her to knock it off or he'd see to it that she got fined for wasting his time.

It can't be considered that if call is legitemate. Your neighbors are wasting their time because they're calling for BS reasons yet a major noise ordinance violation is a reason to call.

I call the police to my community often due to legitemate reasons (suspicious people, etc.). Yes, most of the time the people are gone before the police get here but they don't consider it a waste of their time (in fact, I'm sure our calls are less stressful than most of their calls).
