  • But I'm just kidding man!

So I work with a couple of guys who consider themselves "alpha males"...actually I just consider them that, and very negatively at that.

They're the funny, quick witted ones. They love to just pick you apart. Every little thing you do. They're on it. They watch you like a fucking hawk. If your shoes have a funny logo, they're on it. Your strides aren't exactly even? They're on it. And even the easy shots - your overweight? You stutter? Your mom was a prostitute? They've picked you apart better than a psychiatrist and they have just a jolly good time doing it.

I really hate that shit. Me - I'm not so quick witted. I consider myself intelligent but I can't come up with the great zingers the way they do.

So when I do resort to insults, I attack the really, really personal issues they have. "Hey Travis, don't bitch at me just because your marriage is failing - AGAIN." "Hey Mark, just because you got kicked out of AA again is no reason to give me shit." "Aw gee whiz Brian, I saw your dad's name in the paper last week - so he's a pedophile, huh? That must be awesome! Hey everyone! Brian's dad is a registered sex offender!"

Or sometimes its just "Look if you don't shut your fucking mouth I'm going to shove this filleting knife straight into your neck."

And then they have the fucking nerve to get all upset and be like "Awww man I'm just kidding around with you! Settle down!" Oh, so its just kidding to shove me and throw me off balance when you know damn well my hip is fucked up and the slightest loss of balance causes the muscles to tense up and make me cringe in pain? It's totally fine to make fun of my stutter but I can't make fun of your alcoholism? AT LEAST YOU CHOSE TO BE AN ALCOHOLIC YOU WEAK DEMENTED LITTLE FUCK!!!!!

I am not quick witted when it comes to that either DrF.. and like you I am one of those that can get evil when proded. I ripped a guy a new one once and he pulled they you dont have to be a bitch I was just playing.... That is when I looked at him and said.. so am I, you just think it is funny when your not the butt of it. Keep it up and you will find out how evil I can go... He thought I was bluffing... poor guy.

But remember DrF.. those type are the insecure ones hence why they try and torment.. I mean tease... people that they consider beneath them.

On a bright note.. at least I am not the only one to threaten stabbing.

If its happening at work report them. If work doesn't do anything sue them for a hostile work environment and move to Jamaica. The fact that they are shoving you when they know you have a bad hip would pretty much make it a slam dunk case.

Isn't Jamaica having a civil war or something right now?

Yeah but then I become "that guy". The whiny complainer guy. Even the HR people I report it to who pretend to side with me will secretly be thinking "jesus, watch out for this guy. He's a troublemaker." Supervisors will hate me for getting some of their best workers fired, and others will hate me for ratting out their friends.

            It's a lose/lose situation.

I'd much prefer to just deal with it (it's not 100% constant anyway) and bitch about it on here when it gets too much to tolerate.

And then they shove you into a wall causing an emergency trip to the hospital, or they make the threat about stabbing at someone who was mugged the day before and the police get called, or a hundred other things that could happen because you chose not to speak up.

At the risk of Invoking Godwin, Hitler took Czechoslovakia because no one stopped it, Hitler took Poland because no one stopped it, Hitler took Finland because no one stopped it, etc.

You seen to think that everyone will hate you if you do the right thing. If these two are really being this bad, I seriously doubt that. What's to say that HR is just itching to put these two in their place, but need someone to report it? What if these supervisor need to reign them in but can't do it on their own? I could go on, but my point is made.

If even to avoid a lawsuit, an employer will act on this, but only if they know about it. Letting someone know is not a crime, nor should it be. Letting it continue because you're afraid of possible consequences on the other hand is a crime. It needs to stop, and if you can be a part of it, do so.

I certainly don't always take the serious insult route to get back at people who won't quit poking fun at me, unless I've made it clear that their jokes aren't funny and I'm getting mad. But wow, you should see one of my coworkers go off when you do it to him after he's teased and tormented you for several hours. You don't want to get burned, don't play with fire, but he never learns.

It's not the most mature thing and two wrongs don't make a right, but sometimes that's all you can do to get the comedians and teasers to just get off your back.

My biggest issue with that particular coworker is he's one of those people who can rip and tear you apart, jokingly or seriously, but if you do it back, he will just implode and ignore you or shoot daggers at you with his eyes all night. Grow the fuck up, bud.
