What brought this on?

Well, my boss went off on me over a mistake that I made and admitted to...2 weeks ago. Basically, a package wasn't sent down to the main office. How the hell was I supposed to know it was "priority" if nobody tells me? Along those lines, why wasn't I told it had to go out immediately, instead of waiting for a *group* of packages headed to that office...like I'm supposed to?

So yes, I got reamed out *again* over something that I've already heard about multiple times since it happened. To cap things off, my boss said that he's "still pissed" about it.

Seriously? It happened two weeks ago asshole! Get over it!

Ugh, if you think that's bad, imagine having a chain of command. I run into my Squadron commander, "Blargle!" I run into my group commander, "Hey, WTF?" I run into the Wing Commander, "Hey, I heard..." I run into the Commandant, "Hey, what's the deal?!"

Not saying yours is less, just trying to say, I know what you mean and it's agrivating[sic]

I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't had that happen to them. Protege, I think it has to deal with the fact that the upper management types have to have someone to blame. That by belittling someone, they gain social standing on the ladder to the top. By "being pissed off at you" in front of the right people, it looks like they're holding their department together with an iron fist and thus hopefully earn them a promotion. The "joy" of it is that you can't bitch to anyone about it who can do anything. The only option is to grin, bare it, and take it up the shorts.

Hobbs, That's the type of situation I hate the most. You screw up (either for real or as a result of someone else's mistake) and you get reamed for it by the person in charge. Then you get chewed another one by his higher up. And then anally violated with an agave cactus by their higher up...and so on. By the end of the day you're feeling like you might as well throw yourself off into traffic since you have just had everyone higher up than you on the food chain telling you that you are a worthless retard. Joy-gasm (he said sarcastically).

Ooh I hate this, especially when it's over stuff said in frustration. Like if I angerly reply to someone after they ask me a bunch of questions when I'm already stressed out, I don't mean anything by it! I'm temporarly annoyed, but I get over it quickly, I apologize, and we move on. When they confront me about it two or three hours after the fact, than I just get more annoyed because they're bringing it up again, AFTER I HAD ALREADY EXPLAINED WHY I WAS PISSED OFF!

These are typically situations where there are millions of other things bugging me. The last thing on my mind is how someone took how I responded the wrong way. If they'd just stop making it about them and understand why I was pissed, than this would never be such an issue.

I used to have to deal with that at the Square K if a suit came in as a customer. He's upset because I forgot to say "Thank you, come again!" as he was leaving.

Well, the best way to handle that would be to say "Excuse me, but I'm vice president of this company and I like all the employees to say "thank you, come again.""

But no......he has to call the operations manager, and tell him. The operations manager has to call the regional supervisor, and bitch him out. Then the regional supervisor has to contact regional HR department and bitch at him. Then the regional HR manager has to contact the local HR manager and bitch him out. Then the local HR manager calls the district manager and the customer service manager to bitch both of them out, and they both call my boss and bitch him out.

So now I've got like twelve people pissed off at me for something stupid.
