  • the ever long bra war (long)

I couldn't just say bras or underwear.
no no no. this is about the almost nonexistent non painful bra.
and before we get pervy this has nothing to do with sizes or that they are wrong, just my personal angst with them.
I have yet to try the 18 hour bra or playtex's half sizes. i fall in the catergory of lane bryant. and those who go there or know of this store, its a "chic" or upscale version of dress barn. (nothing wrong with either places) however the aforementioned brands fail to offer my size or waist size or whatever.

I got wrapped up in the right way to wear a bra and how to acurately figure out your bra size. psh...yeah right. Let me put it this way, even if i do find the right size it is either under wire or has the wires on the sides that after a while start curling and HURT after two hours! and I endure it because for now thats all I can get. Or the few that I get compress me wrong, are two low cut so i can't wear them without spilling out any or just hurt so bad.

don't even get me started on getting a custom bra that would be way out of my budget too as I am slightly uneven. I won't go into detail there as its personal to me.

I MUST be doing something wrong as there are about three or four bras I can wear/endure that fit and last most of the day before I come home and say "to hell with this!" And this is out of a drawer full too.
Believe me I am one of the women "blessed" with a bust that gravity makes it QUITE apparent that I am without a bra.
So to the creator of the bra, you had the right idea, but whomever did improvements on it needs to wear one themselves or help me figure out what i'm doing wrong....I wouldn't be surprised that if when I die the coroner finds impressions on the sides of my ribcage from these bras.
Repeat after me, "I'm over it"
    Yeah we're so over, over

Um, this might get me tarred and feathered but...why don't you buy the brands and/or sizes of the four that do fit? I mean, wouldn't it make sense that buying more of the exact-same-thing produce exactly the same results?

I have the same problems. I finally found ONE style of bra that I like, that looks good and is comfortable all day. It's one of Lane Bryant's styles (I don't remember what it's called right now). But even so, I end up buying a new set of bras every 6 months to a year because they fall apart. The stays on the sides pop out of the casings and poke me in the armpits. Or the underwire breaks. Or the seams start to fray.

The last time I went in to buy a few new bras, they were out of my size in the style I like, so I bought the same size in a different style. Boy, was that a mistake. I even tried one on before buying it. But I'm kicking myself now. They just don't fit the same.

because for the past four or more months my budget does not allow....and the lane bryant brand was a gift
and its hard to find my size in playtex or 18 hour bra. i am one of the very buxom girls who does not want some of what i have. it borders on being a back problem

lane bryant now has where if they don't have it in the store you can order it for free or 7 to ship to your house. not bad buuuut...if its the wrong kind then yeah kind of a waste.
they have goddess and a few other brands
Repeat after me, "I'm over it"

I'd suggest victoria's secret-they are not just for "sexy bras"-I swear by their bras, when I used to swear at bras, and swore off anything but sport bras for years-due to aforementoned by op-underwire problems. I may only be a C cup, but my cousin is a D-she has no difficulty with them either.

I have to agree with BlaqueKatt.

I wear a D, and am getting to that age that underwire is a necessity. I've had great luck at VC's the past couple of years.

I wear nonwired bras; and I'm an E cup. They are perfectly comfortable, and all are from Marks & Spencer. Well, whenever I can go there and find a bloody E cup bra, that is. My personal beef with bras is that a lot of the time, it's really difficult to find nice bras for large cup sizes for every day. Just cuz I'm an E cup does not mean that I want to wear ugly boulder holders. It's also very frustrating to go to M&S and not find any E cups on sale.

I go to Ann Summers for my leisure time bras; the ones I wear going out and, ahem, staying in. XXD Ann Summers does loads of lovely, pretty bras that go up to a J cup. I wouldn't wear them to work cuz they're uplifting and I wouldn't want to attract any more attention than I already do.

May I suggest Just My Size?

I love their underwear (they have the no ride up briefs) and the bras are just as comfy! And affordable. And they do have bra sales.

thankies for the advice. i may as well get a custom made one as i am uneven...and i'd rather explain that in pm. to give some clue i suppose i could wear a bra in my size but the uneven side is left...without proper support or just covered in all this fabric...

Plenty of women are a bit uneven. The human body is not perfectly symmetrical so most of us have one foot slightly bigger than the other or one leg slightly longer. Usually the difference is not enough for us to notice unless it starts causing problems.

When Li'l Sis and I go clothes shopping, we often share a dressing room. We don't like taking up 2 out of 3 stalls and hey, we're related, so who cares? She is very uneven. Almost a whole cup size uneven. And we have no idea why.

I hate bras. I'm uneven myself, I don't even like looking at my naked breasts because I also think I'm more saggy than I should be for my age.

I don't like ever being braless, my boyfriend doesn't get it. I try to sleep with a bra on, he's caught me trying to cup my breasts in my sleep or to lump them over his arms or his chest so they aren't hanging there.

My wife gets a special bra at Vicky's and she loves it (although she's an A-cup on a good day). I'd look for it on their site but I'm @ work now. I'll see if I can find them tonight.

What about sports bras? (Mind you,I'm a guy so I don't know the impression of these).

Sports bras aren't always best. I only wear them for working out because they provide a different type of support, but they tend to be really bland looking.

They are a godsend to active women, but every woman needs good fitting bras for the rest of the time.

someone told me walmart started carrying a bra without wires that has straps done a certain way that it supports very well without cutting in. I have to find it, and then find it in my size....
yes, the asymmetry is noticeable enough that i wouldn't be surprised if i was one size smaller on the right side
