This irritates the crap out of me. Stemmed off thanks to Facebook, in which case it's women encouraging sexist shit. All sorts of "likes" about filthy sluts that cater to the whole "I must view every woman I see as competition" crap. Ha-has about using husbands' money when I know they're married or live-in and work as well. Jokes about driving, rape jokes, jokes about how women can't be leaders, ha-ha women are stupid and if they ever enjoyed casual sex then clearly they're sluts to whom the term "rape" can never apply.

Originally this was just going to be about sexist-against-women women, but then I thought of my grandmother, who is hispanic and pretty fuckin' racist against anyone she hears speaking Spanish in a native-tongue sort of way. . .that is, she isn't the "I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PRESS ONE FOR ENGLIIIISH" type, but she's suspicious of them, tries to eavesdrop on their conversations, tells them how to do their job, etc. etc., stuff she doesn't do to white workers (wouldn't know how she treats workers of other minority races, as I haven't been present to witness that).

I mean I understand, on some level, that people. . .well, there are a lot of pressures to behave a certain way, find certain things funny, etc. etc., and I'm in a very privileged position to hold the opinions I do. I don't have a social life to risk, so on and so on. But it irritates me. And writing notes about it on my page, since you can't comment on "likes" and I don't want to get into some weird PM exchange, doesn't seem to do anything.
When you open your mouth, you're too stupid to scream
