...and then never bother to verify with you whether they received your registration info or not.
HATE.
Some of you may remember a dilemma I encountered, which I posted about on CS a few months ago. At A-Kon a couple months ago, I filled out the registration form for an Artist Alley table for another anime convention later this year, and asked the chairman if I could submit payment via paypal in a day or two (since I didn't have enough cash on me to pay for it and I don't usually carry checks around.) He said that was fine, so a couple days later I sent $100 via paypal to the email address he gave me. I never heard back from him or anyone else affiliated with the con, even after multiple emails, PMs on their message board, etc. I talked to the same guy, the chairman, at another con about a month later and he told me I was all set, no problems, not to worry. Last week, a message went up on their message board stating that the Artist Alley tables have been sold out and that if you are an artist who wants to verify that you got a table, to PM a certain mod. So I did, and she told me she has no record of my registration or my payment and that all tables are full without me. She did say she is really sorry for the confusion and that if I can provide her with a payment receipt (which I have done) that she will find a way to fit me in.
But why did it have to get to this SNAFU before anything can get resolved!? If they would CHECK THEIR BLOODY EMAIL and respond once in a while this would have been cleared up months ago!
Same thing happened more recently, with a completely different event. It's a cancer benefit luncheon that my husband and I want to attend in October. Registration is required, by sending in paperwork and either check or credit card payment thru the mail. I did that a few weeks ago, and have heard NOTHING back from them. They are located in the same city as us, it does not take 2+ weeks to get a piece of goddamn mail.
People, if you are going to host an even in which you're going to require registration and payment, friggin' be ready to respond when people actually register and pay. Don't leave them in the damn dark about where the hell their money went.
HATE.
