What really pissed me off about the movie was base don Rorschach though. They completely changed his character when they changed how he found and killed the child molester. What they made him into is not who he was.

    CH

I don't see how he was greatly changed. They made him more spontanous with the kidnapper and sadder at then end but how is he differant otherwise?

And the "mutant cure" was actually a machine devised by apocolypse that didn't work-it's how Angel became Archangel. Plus Rogue's powers coming from Magneto rather than Miss Marvel and her very young age-really?

Now to my pet peeve-Hannibal by Thomas Harris was an amazing book with a fantastic ending-that ended up being made into a really crappy movie with a bad ending(compared to the book).

      *****Mild Spoilers*****
Mild because there is so much difference, and I really think anyone who liked silence of the lambs should skip the movie of Hannibal and read the book.

The guy in the wheelchair was killed by his sister(she jammed his Moray eel down his throat) whom he had raped and sodomized as a child-Dr. Lechter had been his court-ordered psychiatrist and convinced him to cut his own face off and feed it to his dog(there is tons more backstory to this plot point in the book)

His professional career mainly consisted of being the court-ordered psychiatrist for child abusers and their victims-he dealt with the abusers in his "special way"-and blackmailed quite a few of them-the man is independently wealthy due to this-as in is actually a millionaire.

Hannibal rescues Clarice and nurses her back to both physical and mental health(he went so far as to dig up her father's remains so she could say her goodbyes to him. And you find out why he does what he does. Has to do with WWII, Russian troops and his baby sister.

Clarice willingly partook and asked for second helpings of her boss' brain, while in the movie she's totally disgusted. Best line from the book comes from that-her boss says she sounds too much like a "corn pone country cunt" She replies "Let's see if I sound like Oliver Twist when I ask for MORE!"

There is no possibility of another book because Clarice fell in love and left the FBI, though she did not arrest Dr Lechter, and he did not cut off his own hand.

Oh yes... I remember that. It was one of my favourite storylines. I don't understand why they didn't just use the original one; I mean, Apocalypse really is perfect as a movie villain. Big, bad and immortal, too. Not my fave villain tho; that's kind of easy to guess. XXD

Yeah; that really pissed me off too, as Rogue is one of my favourite characters and was completely warped in the movies. She went from being a brash Southern belle to being a wimpy little brat. Ugh. And why no Gambit, eh? I know that he was in Wolverine: Origins but he should have been in the X-men movies, dammit.

I'm just going to keep on watching the 90s cartoon, I think. It's the best adaptation ever, and they get all the characters completely.

yeah-he's not so great in the wolverine movie, pretty much a bit part....and the whole lady deathstrike(wolverine's ex-wife) didn't happen in wolverine-I had hoped it would just to make up for her being a mind controlled sissy in the x-men movies. No such luck. Don't even get me started on what they did to Deadpool in wolverine-Gah*shakes fist* Plus the whole "wolverine is the only mutant that would survive the adamantium fusion" no Lady Deathstrike did as well.-sigh....at least we got a 10 second glimpse of Jubilee-yay

I was so ready for the phoenix saga-such a disappointment....heck I hate to say it but give Michael Bay a shot with the next one-at least we'd probably get the sentinels.....and Apocolypse

Lady Deathstrike only survived the adamantium process cuz she was made into a cyborg as well. I just don't get why it's necessary to change an entire character's backstory for a movie, when the original story works. *sigh*

I would absolutely adore a movie with the whole cure story done properly; with Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen. ^^

They didn't use her as a cyborg because they felt it would be unrealistic from what I read.

Cause you know, movies about super powered beings taking on other super powered beings, moving golden gate bridge, super secret ultimate weapon making on humans is totally real.

Lols; if that's true, then that is pathetic. XXD "Oh, it would be so unrealistic to have a cyborg in a movie about mutants with super powers!"

that may be but they fubar'd their own movies by doing that-Lady Deathstrike had adamantium in the movie she appeared in as a normal mutant(not cybernetic), then to go and claim in Wolverine origins that no other mutant could survive the process-explain Lady Deathstrike then-you can't, a paradox has now been created that leaves a hole in the plot big enough to drive a mac truck through....

And then the entire universe implodes. XD

                    Tho part of me is sad my favourite villain hasn't made it into any X-men films, the other part is glad cuz a ballsing up of Omega Red would mean it would be my sad duty to track the director down and strangle him to death. ^^;;

Hell hath no fury like a comic geek scorned... XD

In the GN, he chains him to the chair, sets the house on fire, and gives him a blade to cut himself free. His death is because he couldn't free himself in time, or at least wasn't willing to. In the movie, he actually kills him. Quite brutally, for that matter. Rorschach refused to become the criminal element that he hunted. That's what separated him from the others, like the Comedian. It's a completely different psychological mindset.

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. I guess I forgot that part of the comic book. I remember him torturing the guy and killing him but not in that same fashion.

Oh man, don't even get me started on the butchering of Rogue in the X-men movies, she's my favorite character. They turned her into a whiny little girl with basically no powers. *sigh* And the accent! Jeeze, how come she can do a pretty decent southern accent in True Blood but in X-men it was just fail? Same with Gambit's accent in Origins.

Although, I actually liked Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. *hides* I also own the first 3 movies (bought the boxed set when it came out), and I am going to buy Origins eventually. I just tell myself it's an AU. It's the only way I stay sane.

I've heard they're doing a Magneto Origins movie (well I've checked IMDB ) I've never been terribly interested in Magneto though, I'm sure I'll watch it anyway. They're also, according to me checking IMDB 2 seconds ago, making A Wolverine 2, which despite the inconsistencies and such makes me geek out just a bit. (it's a thing, Wolverine is my 3rd favorite Character, Gambit being the 2nd)

I just wish they would have done better with Rogue, done right she could have been a great character for them to expand upon. A Rogue Origin movie would have been awesome. but I'm dreaming, they screwed the character up too much for that to happen. *sigh*

people who work in the comic industry should be the ones to write movie adaptations
that or have some form of bible that they can referance

most like rougue were young because it was xavier's school for gifted children, not 20 somethings, so the only adults were the teachers so im guessing they didnt want too many teachers so redueced characters ages en mass,

i liked most of the ultimate universe, the amount of retcons spiderman must have had over the years probably enter double digits.
the fantastic four had to change their origin story to match each decade as one time they were in vietnam or something (i think i read that on wiki or in the back pages of one of the ultimate spiderman trade paperbacks)

wolverine's comic origins came about as the movie guys were going to origin him to an extent in the first movie and with no marvel origin at the time theirs would be the only one. yet they only hinted on aspects of weapon X and as film brain pointed out, between xmen and origins they couldnt even get that consistent

Um, they might want to hurry. Sir Ian isn't getting any younger. (Personally, I'd prefer if he spent the rest of his days doing King Lear, but that's just me.)

for an origin story magneto would be younger, so i think a whole different actor would be called for
we got part of his origin in the 40's and it did need expanding on
