Ok so my family just had a huge scare.. and still are in some ways. A 13 year old disappeared or so we thought.. her bf and his family were questioned and oh no they had no clue... Lying sacks of shit. come to find out the boy is 17 and has a record.. and they knew where she was... well thanks to them now both are missing.

WTF is a 17 year old doing with a 13 year old girl, personally I think that he needs his ass kicked. And this guys family needs it as well. So the 13 year old has scared her mother to death, upset all her siblings, and caused endless worrying. So she is not blameless but the 17 year old should no better then this..

Dont get me wrong I would not have a problem with the ages if they were adults but she is barely a teen and he is close to the age when you are now considered an adult.

You'd have a problem between adults with a 5 year age difference? Why? My grandparents were 7-8 years apart (my grandmother even used to babysit my grandfather). How's that weird?

I will say that, in this issue there is some squick-factor. He is, after all, a semi-adult and she's barely in high-school/leaving middle school.

Also, are they still missing? Your sentence says they are, but the tone of it makes it sounds like they've found her or something...also, has an Amber Alert been issued?

I've gotten a lot of flack for this, even after I explain, but I don't really care anymore. I don't think any guy who is an older teen has any business being with young girls. None.

I was the precocious 14 year old who dated and hung out with the usually 17+ guys. They had no business being around me. They were slimeballs. Girls that young are not mature enough to understand sex or intimate relationships. Guys that age going after girls that young are slime. I'm not saying I was an innocent girl, I knew what I was doing, but I was in no position to be around those sort of guys and those situations.

Blas didn't say that. She clearly places that she herself was also to blame for the situation.

Guys that age going after girls that young are slime. I'm not saying I was an innocent girl, I knew what I was doing, but I was in no position to be around those sort of guys and those situations.

As my first post states, my grandmother was older than my grandfather by a few more years than 5, so while it would have been weird if they dated when he was 13 and she was 19-20, I don't see anything wrong once they were both adults (which is when they did court/marry).

I dont know about blas, but I think that it is wrong either way. There is no reason that a 17 year old who is almost an adult needs to have a girl/boy friend that is just now 13.

Actually, there can be. Maturity gaps can be pretty huge in some people. When my brother was 17/18, he was still hanging out with 13/14 year olds because he could relate to them, to their goals and interests, to their lifestyles. He was not mature enough to get into the same things as people his age. I won't say that I liked it, that I think it was the best solution for him, but it was really that or not have any friends at all.

Friendship is one thing. Dating is another. And a 17 year old who is ready to graduate high school has no business dating a 13 year old who just hit puberty. Often, guys do it just because the girls have no idea about sex and will be star struck that a junior or senior is into them. In that situation, it does make the guy a scumbag.

Not to mention everybody, that Kimmik made it very clear that the age difference is fine if they are adults. The 17 year old is basically an adult. (In some states he is an adult at 17). The 13 year old girl is not.

At 17, the guy knows about sex. Likely very much wants it, and knows how to control a 13 year girl, who doesn't know the RISKS of sex. She may know of sex. She may have heard of the risks, but likely doesn't UNDESTAND the risks. There is a difference in that regard. She is likely to be easy to control for sex, and may even like it at that age, as hey, she is an /adult/ to this 17 year old. She feels more mature, because she has an /mature/ boyfriend.

None of us know for sure if she's being taking advantage of. We're not a part of that relationship and we'll never know. But in most experence, it very likely is.

I didn't say or imply that she didn't take responsibility. I was referring to placing more blame on one part than the other, but in saying that I respect blas' opinion.

I was just curious on blas' opinion on if the roles were reversed.

Though you don't really hear about it a lot, save for teachers like Debra LaFavre (however you spell it), I think girls who do that to younger guys are just as slimey.

I don't have a problem with adults and age differences. Sometimes there's still a maturity level issue, but at least it's legal.

I believe that she is still missing, the last time I was able to talk to someone was Tuesday and she was still missing. And I apologize for the typo in my post, as i have no problem with adults having an age difference. I also dont have a problem with friends of various ages, I have an issue with a 17 year old dating a 13 year old.

Ah, I see. That makes sense then. As I stated back on CS, I had a friend who was/is 16...actually, I think she turned 17 this past month, but I knew it was just friendship. And I can be a bit immature too (I tend to talk gaming/anime w/ younger people at parties b/c of mutual interest as well) but I'd never think of dating a teen...well, 18-19 would be okay.
