  • People who don't leave

"well it's been great hanging out man, but i gotta get going. It's 12:30, and I have an hour drive to get somewhere at 1:30."

    Half hour later...

"Well man now I'm really late, so I gotta think about leaving. See ya later dude."

Comes back in 5 minutes later....

"Oh man I forgot to tell you about......Ok see ya later."

Comes back in 5 minutes later....

"Oh man I forgot my keys. Are they around here...........ah there they are."

Comes back in 5 minutes later....

"Hey man I just remembered I left a CD here too....."

And all the while there's something I want to do that involves them being far, far away, like watching a really great porn or something, but they just won't leave. They keep coming back for one more thing. Get the fuck out of my house!

My ex husband was like that, but he took forever to leave our house to go somewhere else. He had to stop for shit in the house, then once in the car he had to stop at one store for cigs, then somewhere for gas, then somewhere else for some other piece of shit. Drove me crazy. He was one of those chronically late people too...surprise surprise.

This sorta reminds me of my lightsaber-grabbing friend. Everywhere she goes, she HAS to have a ton of bags with her.

She tends to have at least three tiny purses at any given time, a stuffed knapsack, and at least one if not two tote bags, also stuffed with crap. And this is how she leaves the house- not what she looks like after going shopping.

I fucking hate it. When we're at her place, it's impossible to leave quickly because she's forever frigging with things, arranging bags. Then, when we're out, the bags are a hassle. We sit down? Forget about getting up and going, she has to arrange all her bags again. And every now and then, there's a panicked dash somewhere because "OMG, I forgot a bag!"

It's so damn annoying. And if you dare ask her if all that stuff is really needed just to go out for a few hours, she freaks. "I don't need to ask your permission!"
Um, I didn't require you to ask me to take your junk everywhere, I just asked if you need several bags for a short outing. Jeez.

I have the same problem with getting my sister off the phone. I mean it's nice talking to her and all, since she lives three states away, but sometimes hearing about her kids' soccer/basketball/church drama schedules for the third time in an hour bores me to tears, frankly. Or I really do need to leave so I can go to work/go back from lunch.

        LET ME GO ALREADY!

My bf has ADHD, so that probably explains it, but you can never, ever get him going. I don't know how he makes it to work on time. Oh, probably because he'd be fired. But I cannot count how many times we've been late for a movie (I mean, previews over, movie starting already) or have been more than an hour later than planned to dinner.

Sometimes I swear he is just standing around in the bathroom and staring at himself or tweeking with his hair or maybe just even counting pores, I'm not even sure. All I know is he complains about how long I take to get ready, he barely gets ready while I am, when I get to his place, he is fucking around in the bathroom for a good 30 to 60 minutes.

After that, he has to wander around his room for another 5-10 minutes. I'm not sure if he thinks he's forgotten something or what it is. He just wanders and seems to just be looking at crap.

We get to the car and it's "Oh wait a sec!" and he's back in his room again looking around, pacing. Maybe he does it just to piss me off because I'm a big planner, but wow....it's so annoying.

Oh, and tell him to hurry up or ask what he's doing and he flips the hell out. So you have to sit in the car and wait for him to finally get all of his thoughts and stuff together and get the hell out and into the car.

Oh, and Amanita, you're way nicer than I am. I don't care if a person is "different" or has quirks, but to me, you are not allowed to be defensive if you do something that is considered extremely weird by the greater majority of people.

My grandfather had a wonderful way of getting those people to leave. When he was done, he would go and change into his night things, say goodnight, and go to bed. Five minutes later, tops, he could lock up.

            My granddad was awesome.
