....over something trivial.
Now, I understand that everyone has a breaking point or has a bad day, and everyone has had moments and things they've said that they aren't proud of.
Having said that, I also firmly believe some people just need to learn some self control and when to stop flapping their freaking gums, especially when it is not something worth going on and on about.
This could kind of relate to the thread about people freaking out for no reason, but it's a tad different.
What sparked this tirade, you ask?
Work, of course.
I had to go into another room to summon a coworker (don't you love having to play messenger?) for my shift lead who was too busy, I guess. Anywho.
I overheard two women talking about something "going around". Unfortunately, one of my flaws is that I eavesdrop on people who look like they are trying to hide something or talk crap.
So I kindly butt in and ask "What's going around, please don't tell me we've already had a flu outbreak?!"
One woman answered me (well, the best I can remember) "Well, it's like the flu. It's something horrible. And some people on our shift in particular seem to think that they shouldn't get enough sleep on their days off and come in to work sick anyway! I mean, these people are coming to work coughing and sounding like Hell and getting all of us sick! And then you ask what they did on their days off and they went out and did this and did that! And most of them aren't even taking anything for it and won't see the doctor! Oh I am just about at my wits end listening to the coughing and the hacking and I had to start bringing sanitizer and wipes to work because everyone is so adament on coming to work like Walking Death, so I have to disinfect every area I walk into, just so that I won't end up like them. I suppose it's probably too late and it's probably festering inside of me already! But at least unlike them, I'll be sleeping on my days off and fighting it. Oh, and management here doesn't even seem to care that people are coming to work sick! It seems they'll only send you home IF you throw up, but you can hack all you want all over everyone your entire shift and still get to stay! If they don't want to leave, they don't have to. Bullshit. They are going to get everyone sick and then this place will get even worse!"
I had to excuse myself and walk away, in fear that another few minutes would pass and she'd still be yapping away. When I walked back into the room, I still had bug eyes from my initial reaction of "Wow.....talk talk talk talk talk talk"
I can understand some of her points, but she just went on and on and on and on and on and on and on, just rambling and ranting about people being sick and coming to work.
Yeah, I'm not too happy about it, I'm starting to sneeze a lot and my throat is a bit tickly, I was even warned last night that everyone on 2nd shift is sick and half of them aren't even there because they are so sick, but wow....just wow. Just keep talking, maybe someone will listen to you when you calm the hell down and talk like a reasonable person.
