  • People who use Facebook to spy on others

My SIL, T, recently signed up for FB. I was excited when she sent me a Friend request 'cuz I figured we'd get a chance to keep in touch a little more this way.

Nope! The only reason she signed up was to "keep track of other people." She "doesn't have time" to update her own profile or status or anything, but she was perfectly nosey about telling my mom (who is not on FB) all of my latest FB updates.

I don't really care that my mom knows what I have on FB, since I don't post anything there that I would want to hide from someone in the first place, and I talk to my mom a lot anyway so she knows pretty much everything that's going on in my life. But, I had a tooth pulled yesterday, and T saw my status update about it and asked my mom how I was feeling.

Hello? You're asking MY MOM, how I'M feeling? Fine, you don't want to communicate via FB. You have my phone number. You have my email address. How about asking ME how I'm feeling?

I'm a little insulted, honestly. She doesn't want to share anything at all about herself online because she's a paranoid freak (seriously, she takes paranoia way over the top. I completely understand being guarded about what you put on the internet, but T takes it to a whole new level) and yet she's perfectly happy reading about everyone else...and then spreading it around like gossip. I may end up de-friending her if this continues.

Why haven't you done that already? That's what I would have done.
