  • That's it, we're done here.

I have recently renewed an old acquaintance via Facebook. This woman has two children, one about 6 months old or so. It's all she's capable of talking about. We used to share common interests (business, mostly) and always talked about that. Now, she sends me pictures of her children on a weekly basis.

I don't have children, and have never met hers, so that's not really a point of common interest, is it?

Now, before you all assume that I just don't like kids, let me just say that my sister talks about her boys all the time and I love hearing about them. They're my nephews, and I love them. Besides, I love my sister, and am always wanting to hear about what interests her.

But this woman is just an acquaintance. I care about as much about her kids as I do about any two random children you might name. Which is to say, I wish them all well, but don't care about their favourite toys or their first words.

So when she decided to e-mail me a photo of her youngest, naked and covered in his own shit, with a caption reading, "First solid foods bowel movement! What a mess he is!" I threw in the towel. I'm going to remove her from my friends list and block her e-mails.

Seriously, what in hell was she thinking? Would the child's own grandmother want to see this picture? Its unbelievably disgusting. If my sister had sent me a shot of one of the boys like that, I would have wondered about her mental health. But to send this photo to an old business acquaintance? Is this woman mad?!

A few years ago, I'd have never believed she could do something so crass. She used to be such an interesting, insightful, well-rounded person.

Someone please tell me that this isn't what happens to everyone when they have kids.

I have a kid, and I would never have even considered photographing him in that state, let alone sending a picture like that to anybody, even my mom! That is such incredibly poor taste, at least, possibly a mental problem. Yes, that is overstepping boundaries. I think you're right in blocking her on your friends list.

      .
Dude, sick! I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to hear from her again.

If you have her contact information, I would call child services, personally- or at least find out where the kid's grandmother or father or something can be reached. I may be overreacting, but I don't think any sane parent would send around a picture like that. I would worry about that photo getting sent to pedophiles who like poop.

That's just disgusting and distasteful. No parent in their right mind would take a picture of their child in that state, let alone POST it where everybody online can see it!!! Good thinking on blocking her from your friends and email list.

I don't know about child services. Yeah she sounds nutty, but not abusive.

What kills me is when people get pics of their newborns when they're still covered in vagina goo and send those around, instead of the nice ones after they're all washed and pinked up.

People everywhere have varying levels of "appropriate" and "acceptable". But, if you don't know how someone might react to such a potentially taboo and offensive photo, why the hell would you send it to them?

And no. Not everyone becomes like this after having kids. But, the sad truth is, some people do. Mothering instinct, and therefore obsession with their children, can become overpowering. Truth be told, I feel bad for this woman.

I belong to an online CF community. I've heard similar horror stories.

No, not everybody who has kids turns out like this...but there are way too many women who apparently seem to have squirted out their brains along with said children.

The only naked pictures that were ever taken of me were of my baby bum. Never anything that would set off a child pornographer nor was I ever covered in my own waste.

Now oranges, I was constantly placed in boxes of oranges. My grandparents have orange trees. And what was really funny is that my red hair made me blend in somewhat.

I'm not aware of any naked baby photos of me at all. The only apparently-naked childhood photo I have is from my teenage years: I was in shorts and a 'boob tube', the photographer managed to leave half of me off the border of the photo, and between how I was sitting and what was around me, you can't see any of my clothing at all!

                    But I was clothed. Honest!

(I think that photo has been destroyed.)

My mom has lots of pics of me naked as a baby. Apparently I really enjoyed bath time, so it was the easiest way to get a photo of me smiling.

Nothing wrong with naked baby pics. It was the poop that really turned my stomach.

Well, I'm sure the mom thought it was funny. But really, nobody else wants to see that! A friend sent me two physical photos (not digital) of her newborn all covered in blood. EWW. Why did she think I'd want to see that?!?! Like I was supposed to put it in my photo album or something? or put it up on the fridge? Hell no, they went in the trash!

I have friends who have birth pics(bloody vagina goo and all that) in a special album that most people don't see. They certainly don't show them to everyone.

I'm sure your friend thought the poop pic was a milestone and all that, but eww.

                            Do ya think?

Yeah, she has pretty poor judgment, but come on...

That's like calling CPS for taking a shot of the child in the bathtub.

Some people are just so in love with their child that they think the whole world is as well.
For some people, it doesn't occur to them that there are sickos out there who would be gettig turned on by a picture like that. Not everyone has been exposed to the nastiness of life.

She probably thought that was a hilarious moment and wanted to share it.
It's not really something the majority of the population would do, but I'm sure there are some who grabbed a camera and took a shot for their own album to remember weird moments that only they would laugh at.

(When my granddaughter was born, I took pictures of her only moments after her birth. There are a few full body pictures but those were not shared with anyone but family. I also took a video of her 'swimming' in the tub at only 3 months, but we put a facecloth over any private areas. I have it on my Facebook, but it's filtered to friends only.)
                            Point to Ponder:

Is it considered irony when someone on an internet forum makes a post that can be considered to look like it was written by a 3rd grade dropout, and they are poking fun of the fact that another person couldn't spell?

I dunno...naked baby pics are fairly normal... Sheesh my Mom put a couple of them in collages and hung them in our hallway... *where's that bag over the head smiley?*

Baby covered in blood or poo...um...EW. Keep those private! Those really shouldn't be shared with people you don't know well.

The first born pictures I can sort of understand... it's your baby...it just came out, yay! Mom and Dad maybe just couldn't wait to get that first shot...but...um...I wouldn't show my friends that.

I personally, don't find anything funny about a baby covered in poo...YUCK. Why...oh why...would you photograph that?
