  • Cuz I'm so dangerous....

My wife recently tried to get her job back at the company we both used to work for. She was a wonderful employee, but they were dragging their heels, and finally she asked the assistant manager what the scoop was.

He told her it came back to me - they company didn't trust me, and they were afraid that if she were to get fired or something I'd retaliate in some godawful way. This is regrettably understandable, as I tend to do awful things to people who screw me over.

But with these guys...I was there a long time. In management. I got to learn all those dirty little secrets that no company wants out in the open. I basically had a loaded gun to their head and I just handed it over. Never bothered to report them or sue them for anything. I did the mature thing and just let it go.

Now if that's not rock-solid proof that I'm trustworthy, what is? That even after being screwed over by them, royally fucked, I maintained my loyalty and confidence and kept their secrets? What the hell better way to be trustworthy is there than to just plain be trustworthy?

Wait, they don't want to re-hire her because, on the chance that they MIGHT have to fire her someday, they're afraid you MIGHT somehow retaliate against them? That's one of the stupidest excuses I've heard for not hiring someone. Doesn't that break some kind of law somewhere? Personally I think that's even worse than them not trusting you.

Wait, what? They won't hire her out of fear that you'll retaliate against them if they fire her? What the hell kind of PHB logic is that?!

Yeah that's basically it, of course this isn't confirmed by anyone that matters, but it was something the assistant manager related to her, and he doesn't even know me or her or the circumstances by which I was fired at all, so if he's heard the story.....

But anyway, yeah. I would understand if I had a record of burning down every business that ever fired me. I'd understand if I was known for making dozens of harassing phone calls to people who fired me. Obviously, I don't do these things. Never even made threats to them. Worse thing I did was I mentioned in my termination paperwork that I would like to have the money that was lost to me via a payroll discrepancy. I never even hinted that I'd report them if I didn't get the money, nor did I report them or anything like that. I just let it go. They know this.

It's a bunch of BS, but it's a small town and word gets around and rumors fly. It's sad.

That and the fact that the AM basically lied to keep your wife from getting her job back is setting off all sorts of alarm bells right now. The small town thing just makes it worse. I could actually imagine if you did snap and go Dio Brando on everyone in the building when you lost your job the first time.

As far as what laws they're breaking, isn't that a form of discrimanation no matter how you slice it?
