BG: Wally world has been expanding their stores I don't know if its per store, per area or district or state or what. The one closet to me has been done with their's for a while and the second closest one is supposed to get theirs in 2012 and not sure why but whatever, corporate's "brilliance" at work. hah
Anywho the pro's of the remod (remodel)/expansion are:
- new and better registers, the registers are blue, bigger and have touch screens. And there are one or two more of them.
- doing upkeep which is thoroughly dusting the ceiling, ac ducts and repainting or re coating (it looked like white paint but smelled more like a coating substance than the typical chemical smell of paint
- Bigger electronics section with supposed better security.(HAH)! better electronics selection and bigger photo section.
The Downside:
because electronics expanded, grocery and other departments were downsized. As in halfed or just plain squished. I know for a fact the pet department took a good cut as they barely have room for cat and dog stuff let alone fish tanks they had to totally redo the fish tank section that was horrible. They no longer carry my brand of liter (not a special brand but not an majorly on demand one) .
Grocery took a big hit in that the sodas and juice now has its own aisle and the aisle was expanded but the other aisles were squished some to make room for that.
And due to the lack of room on the shelves sometimes they will have sections of stock and sometimes not at all for weeks due to season, or demand or just ordering. Example we were looking for the gravy packets that are with the taco seasoning and spaghetti seasoning and chili seasoning packets. All that was gone for two weeks. We shop every two weeks so that was the next time i saw a change in the products available.
Electronics security was done wrong and made SO MUCH MORE easier for theft instead of the way it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be one way in and one way out WITH the scanners they have at the door only much better ones and the dvd shelves were supposed to have doors on them or something. (saw that in a walmart in texas when visiting)
And there are more gaps in product (or as I learned in the short time in stocking) more product holes than is wise. Good example, they had to space out what little they had to make it look nice and then had to mark down their tv's so that they could get rid of them to make room for the latest and greatest coming in stock. Hah even then it still looks horrible. All this remod did was screw things up and shrink the rest of the departments. So yesh walmart thanks for further screwing yourself up and to the unsuspecting it looks great but to those that were there and have family who work there, yeah all you did was shuffle it around and make it look pretty and fool us all. And its supposed to happen to the rest of our stores. krogers and albertsons are starting to look better
