  • Noobs.

No, not newbies; noobs. A noob is completely different from a newb; whereas a newb can be corrected on rules and will probably take it to heart and end up being a decent member of a community, a noob will ignore all corrections and carry on his/her own sweet way.

I'm a super mod on one community and admin on another and have encountered my fair share of noobs. I often have to give out warnings to people who break the rules; mostly people just say, "Sorry, I'll be more careful next time" and that's an end of it. However, some people either ignore the warning or reply back in PM with swearing and abuse. This gets to me; yes, I don't take it to heart, but it gets to me that someone is saying all that to me when all I am doing is trying to make sure that everyone is treated fairly as per the rules.

For example, one user not only ignored multiple warnings, she also ignored two infractions and two temp bans of a week for constant rulebreaking. In the end, she had to have a lengthy ban of 2 months; all cuz of her behaviour. Another user was hit with a ban for image theft; her friend was also banned cuz she spammed the board defending her friend and attacking the mods. I guess I just don't see why people can't just give out what they want to get back; plus I just had to rant about this.
"Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."

I concur. I find it amusing when I see in a game a newbie in a class going:

    <name>:<---noob

And I correct them by typing:

    Correction, <name> <----newb

For the record, a newbie or newb is someone who simply new to something and simply needs to be taught. A Noob n00b, or any other incarnation is someone who is simply ignorant to what they are being taught. Also, anyone who declares someone a noob is most typically one themselves.
