  • The New Norm in Heels

Anyone remember when 1 and 2 inch heels were the highest appropriate for the office? When did that become 4 to 5 inches? I can't even find a pair of nice, comfortable, low-heel shoes anymore.

Well, at least my feet will still be functional in 30 years.
I have a drawing of an orange, which proves I am a semi-tangible collection of pixels forming a somewhat coherent image manifested from the intoxicated mind of a madman. Naturally.

Oh well, they can get blisters on their feet if wearing that big of heels is that important.

I love heels, but I can only wear them twice a week. I keep them between 1-3 inches, just enough to make my legs look more toned and longer.

I want to know when it became so socially acceptable to wear jeans so tight at the bottom that every woman looks like a pear with little ankles.

Check out the Aravon line made by New Balance. The Maya model has been very popular with my customers.

Naturalizer has some very fashionable but reasonably heeled shoes as well. and if you check for sales and sign up for their coupons you can get them for pretty decent prices, I had a customer get a pair of nearly $200 boots for $10 because of a combination of clearance and coupons. People think that Naturalizer is all old lady shoes, I did before I worked there, but they actually have some very cute shoes.

Not to sound like an advertisement or anything.

And blas, I feel your pain about the jeans. It's been like searching for the holy grail to find anything other than skinny jeans the past couple of years. I have heard that flares are coming back though!

I tend to wear some cheap, flat Mary Janes I bought eons ago, so that looks quite doable.

What a price tag, though. >< (I've never spent more than $30 on a shoe before, but for real leather which I assume is durable, guess it makes sense.)

I'll scope them out. Hope I can find both brands in town somewhere.

          Thanks. ^^

Depending on where you live Naturalizer usually has their own stores, but I believe The Bay (Canada), and I think Sears sells them as well.

There's some really big designer shoe retailers here that would probably carry them. ^^

I'll probably get lost looking. Never set foot (har har) in any of them before.

Delia's has some cute flats and lower-heeled shoes as well. You can get their catalog or order online.

Yeah, I don't get the high heels...only heels I can wear are chunky 2" heels, lest I fall over, haha. And I can only wear those once in awhile, and if I drive, I have to bring extra shoes.

We have quite a few gals who can wear the high heels without falling over....I guess more power to them!

They also have plenty of support, so you'll have less fatigue. Whatever shoe you're interested in, regardless of brand, take it in your hands and bend it. If you can bend it under where your arch is, put it back; it lacks support.

I'm having no problems finding one-inch heels. They seem to be fashionable right now.

Must be a difference of where we live.

Three-inch heels or higher is completely inappropriate for the office. The goal of a work wardrobe should never be "sexy". It should be "professional".

My main annoyance is finding chunky or platform heels among all the stiletto and spike heels that seem to be in fashion right now. -.- I can't walk in spike heels; I'd just fall over. All my boots have chunky or platform heels; and often, I can't find new ones in high street shops.

I tend to wear flats - mary janes or loafers. I'd rather be able to keep my balance than have my legs look longer.

I prefer the wedge type of platform, but skinny heels on shoes that only boost me a couple of inches aren't that hard to walk in. I wear flats all week, it's nice to have a boost and feel like a lady and not a factory worker, which is what I am 99% of the time

I am so glad others feel my pain about the skinny jeans. I tried on a pair and I wanted to vomit....my legs looked about half as long as they should be, my thighs and butt about twice as large as they really are, and it looked like it all swoops down and caves in at the ankles. Just ISH. I'll go around without pants before I will wear skinny jeans.

                              Oh, god, I hope so!

*glances happily at the flared, low rise, full cut jeans she has on*

You and me both, and that wouldn't be a pretty sight on my end. >_<

I hate skinny jeans. And they look like complete crap on most people. They'd look hideous on me.

There were some really cute jeans at the Target when I was there, last, but they don't make the lowest rise in anything but skinny. I have a very short hip line, so super-low jeans end up coming nearly to my waist and are so much more comfortable than regular waist jeans. And they didn't have any of the low rise full cut in my size. *cries*
